Delivered some apple juice to Groom's Farm Shop and butchers in Ivinghoe this week - this was a rather tasty blend of Discovery and Bramley apples. Sold under their own label.
Whilst we were there we picked up some of their other local produce including eggs and something for dinner from the meat counter.

Labelled up juice yesterday, ready to go to our local outlets, and then went picking again before the rain comes! Met this little Robin who had no fear at all, too interested in eating tasty fallen fruit clearly ❤️

Monty Don today:

Apples dropping left, right and centre? Don’t panic! 🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎

In this drought, your tree may be jettisoning some of its half-ripe fruit because it’s running short of water. By dropping apples, the tree is looking after itself and saving enough water to allow the remaining fruit to develop.

So what may look like a disaster is actually your tree responding to the drought and doing exactly what it needs to survive 🙂

We are now ready to receive your picked, ripe apples/pears to start pressing as from Monday 17th. Check for nice dark brown pips. Anything not quite ready give it a few more days.
Bring in nice clean boxes (not bags) with a note of your contact details in each box. Apples are all a bit topsy turvy this year so it's going to be an interesting season 🍎🍐🍏
Any questions call Nigel on 07950 809851.

Checking in on the orchard today. It is such a peaceful special place to be and we feel blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy it all.
Some of the hardest working trees from last year are taking things a bit easier this season but the Bramley, Discovery and Spartans are looking good so far. Would like some rain I expect though!

Well we did it! Weather was kind, so many people came out to wave us on in Marsworth, Tring, Northchurch, Berkhamsted, Ashridge, Ivinghoe Beacon, Ivinghoe and Pitstone. Thanks to The Red Lion, Marsworth for keeping us fed and watered and to the organisers, marshalls, photographers, Paramedics and the residents of Marsworth, particularly, for welcoming us again. It was quite noisy at times!
Donations can made made until 31st May, any amount, no matter how small, will go towards supporting men's mental health and prostate cancer.

Only 12 sleeps till Carol and I join the Tring Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. I'm preparing the K4 (and my bow tie and moustache) for another exciting event raising money for men's mental health and prostate cancer.

If you'd like to support us on 17th May you can wave and cheer us on as we pass through Tring, Berkhamsted and the surrounding villages. Or drop down to The Red Lion in Marsworth, which is our start and finish point to say hello and a closer look at all the bikes.
