This year's Open Weekend will be Saturday and Sunday, October 25 and 26, 11 till 4.

Visitors will be able to watch our young Gypsy Cob, Featherstone, working the mill - this is his second season - and the cider makers working the old press.

Cider made last year will be available to taste and buy, including six varieties of still cider, and one Sparkling.

Admission free: donations please to the Laurie Engel Fund for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Visitors to the Open Weekend on October 26 and 27, will be able to watch Featherstone, our four-year-old Gypsy Cob, working the mill. Feathers has been with us since he was a foal. He was trained and taught to drive by Vika Engel, tutored in the mill by Wendy and John Lloyd, who own our previous mill horses, Pye and Tommy, and now he is assisted by David Wilkins, also known as Red.

Feathers has grown up to be a calm, good-natured horse: and he's just the right size for the mill. His ears just fit under the beams.

We're open from 11 till 4 on both days. Feathers will probably have finished milling by 2, but he will be happy to receive admirers after that, while the cider makers are pressing.

Another Hereford AppleFest Fringe event: visitors to Fair Oak Cider will be welcome to watch Tommy, a Gypsy Cob, working the restored 17th-century cider mill on their farm (the only one operating commercially in the UK).

Their cider makers will also be working the old press and Fair Oak Cider will be available to taste and buy.
