Allow me to reintroduce myself 👋🏻

My name is Geena and I am the owner of The Cake Club! I make all sorts of wedding cakes from the classic & elegant to the “out there” & different! Every cake I bake is unique and designed with you in mind. Here’s a little bit about my processes:

👉🏻 Step one: enquiry. Get in touch with your date, venue, headcount and design ideas. I provide my e-brochure and a basic quotation. You’re then invited to step two…

👉🏻 Step two: consultation. Completed by either Zoom or in-person (in-person is advised!) to go through every aspect of your wedding. From your timeline to colour scheme to all of your design ideas. I get to know you as a couple, and suggest design ideas you may not have thought of! I explain my pricing, give your quotation and take a deposit to secure your date. At this meeting you can also collect your wedding cake taster box, baked especially for you! You will also receive a sketch of your cake so you can visualise the masterpiece!

👉🏻 Step three: sit back & relax. Enjoy the rest of wedding planning! We will get in touch with your wedding venue to discuss timings, as well as speaking to any other relevant suppliers to collaborate effectively for your dream day.

👉🏻 Step four: final catch-up. You will receive any email 2-4 weeks before your big day to catch-up with any final details, last minute changes and an invoice reminder. Your final balance is due two weeks before the big day.

👉🏻 Step five: the big day. Focus on getting ready and enjoying the biggest day of your life! A member of The Cake Club team will set-up your cake at the pre-arranged time and be all finished by the time your guests arrive. Your cake will magically appear as if the cake fairy has delivered it! 🧚

🍊🍉🍍 How to cut up a tiered cake like a professional! 🍍🍉🍊

SAVE this video if you’re hosting a party soon 🥳

Remove all decorations (edible or inedible!) before cutting the cake. This ensures no stray cocktail sticks or inedible pieces will sneak their way onto someone’s plate.

Always cut your cake into rectangular pieces: not only is it easier to cut into more portions but also much neater and easier for your guests to eat! This method results in a higher yield of slices, so ensure you get a cake that is a suitable size for the amount of portions you’re looking for. If in doubt- Google cake serving guides!

I always remove my plastic dowels after I’ve begun cutting into a cake. My dowels are cut to be only one or two millimetres taller than the height of the cake, so they’re tricky to remove before slicing. My knife is so sharp is actually cut into one of the dowels 🤣

I hear it time and time again, “we’re on a tight budget”. And that’s perfectly NORMAL! It’s a wedding. Things add up and it costs a bloody fortune. But you still want a bloody fancy cake worth shouting about? I’ve got you guuuurl 💁🏼‍♀️

Here’s three ways to save money on your wedding cake:

1. Did you know that you don’t need to cater for your entire guest list? 👁️👄👁️ you didn’t hear that from me!!!

Not everyone is going to have a piece of cake. And that’s okay, let them be weird. I recommend catering for a MAXIMUM of 75% of your headcount. But if you want to cater for less than that is totally up to you, it’s your wedding! The difference could be a price tag of £100+! In girl maths… that makes your bouquet basically free… right?

2. Have you looked into alternatives to the big tiered cake? There are loads of other cost effective options that we do.

I won’t lie, tiered cakes are a LOT of work. I’m basically a cake architect now. And that skill comes with a price tag. I’m not going to sit here and say my tiered cakes are cheap, because they’re not. But that doesn’t mean I can’t do you a budget-friendly alternative!

Cupcakes come in at less than £3 each, and you can opt for SO many funky flavours and a mixture of designs and colours. Pop it all on a multi-tier acrylic cake stand (which we throw in for FREE for you to keep after!) with a cutting cake on top and BAM. You have the most amazing wedding tower 😍 and it doesn’t even have to be cupcakes. Think brownies, blondies, cookies, doughnuts, mini loaf cakes, millionaire shortbread. The options are limitless!

3. Less materials = less $$$

This might seem obvious, however if I have to entirely cover a cake in buttercream, sugarpaste, royal icing or chocolate ganache, it’s going to cost more than a semi-naked cake. That’s basic costings. Semi-naked cakes are the most cost-effective type of cakes I offer, and all my starting prices are for semi-naked cakes!

Everything I bought in the Le Crueset Factory to Table Sale!

This year was held at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre (fingers crossed for another Southern event next year too! 🤞🏻) and I scooped the following bargains:

26cm round casserole dish with matching 25cm stoneware baking dish in Shell Pink - was £324 reduced to £109

20cm heart casserole dish in Shallot - was £205 reduced to £99

Cast iron trivet in Mauve - was £85 reduced to £40

Classic salt & pepper mills - was £43 each reduced to £26 each

Total saving of £395!

I wasn’t lucky enough to get a mystery box this year, but fingers crossed for next year!
