3 facts about Italian Easter:

‘Pasquetta’ on Monday is for picnics, countryside trips and meals outdoors, a national tradition of celebrating freedom, friends and fresh air after the solemnity of Easter Sunday.

Italians give la “colombina” to children, small dove‑themed sweets or treats that are a gentle symbol of peace and new beginnings.

Scoppio del Carro is a Florentine Easter tradition where a mechanical dove flies from the cathedral to ignite a cart full of fireworks in the square. The successful explosion is believed to bring good luck for the year.
