Late Halloween post but these vegan doughnuts deserved their moment! 🎃👻

Instead of dropping £60 at Doughnut Time UK, I decided to make my own spooky treats and dupe their spider, monster and pumpkin (mine looks better, just saying). Honestly didn't expect the ingredient hunt to be the scariest part of Halloween.

Plot twist: in 2025, NO major supermarkets clearly label vegan food colouring or icing pens. Checked everywhere and it took Sainsburys two days just to confirm their red colouring (which turned everything a muddy brown) was vegan. M&S had a vegan colour set but no yellow, so I mixed turmeric with red to make orange. The solution? Lean into it and make an orange juice flavored pumpkin doughnut.

Posting today because it's World Vegan Day and these beauties prove you don't need fancy specialty shops to make something incredible. Just patience, creativity, and a very understanding kitchen.

The lineup: graveyard scene with Oreo dirt, grass, bats and a purple Skittle moon 🦇, creepy eyeball with white chocolate glaze 👁️, jack-o'-lantern with that improvised orange icing, eyeball trio emerging from the depths, and an Oreo-crusted spider that's almost too cute to eat 🕷️.

Shoutout to Otherly for consistent vegan chocolate and Sous Chef for stocking the impossible-to-find items. Sainsbury's Tesco Morrisons Waitrose & Partners - please make vegan labeling clearer in your stores!

These were totally worth every minute of the hunt.

This past January has been a real eye-opener. While Veganuary was in full swing, I was hit with the news of two iconic plant-based spots— Wulf & Lamb and Unity Diner—calling it quits. 😢 Wulf&Lamb just quietly vanished. I had a festive meal there just before Christmas, and honestly, there were no signs that anything was amiss. In fact, it was actually tough to even get us a table!

The closure of Unity Diner, a beloved vegan hub in London, was especially heartbreaking. 💚 After years of being a go-to spot for so many, it shut its doors yesterday, citing the economic struggles post-Covid and soaring rent prices.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the excitement when big brands start launching new vegan options during Veganuary, like receiving surprise presents 🎁 stacked under the tree. But, it’s the closures of these incredible vegan businesses that really got me thinking: we need to do more to support the small, fully plant-based businesses—not just in the UK, but across the globe.

So, I’ve decided to stop sitting on my ideas and pivot my travel business to help support this vibrant community of vegan restaurants and business owners worldwide. From now on, I’ll be focusing all my energy on curating plant-based holidays that shine a spotlight on the bold and creative vegan spots around the world.

It’s all about helping them to thrive while boosting your travel adventures to the next level!
