Celebrating our big bakery cookies 🩷🍪

If you’ve ever taken a bite of these cookies you’ll know how special they are. The base dough took YEARS to develop. They even have a couple of secret ingredients to keep it buttery soft, incredibly moreish and perfectly balanced 🤐

I’m so proud of these and this Friday (tomorrow) I’ll be realising the biggest selection for you to stock up on!! And when I say stock up… STOCK THE HECK UP!!! Please don’t hold back and think one will be enough…. with only a few weeks to go until the bakery closes I cannot stress enough that you won’t see the majority of these again!! Maybe ever!!! 💔

This is the week to STOCK YOUR FREEZERS!!! 🧊 for everyone who’s messaged saying they need to clear out a drawer consider this your new weekend job! 😅 I’m honestly not even joking!!! I’ll be heartbroken if someone messaging me in a month saying “oh I wish I had another one of…”

Sometimes I don’t want the fanciest looking bake, the most stuffed, the most drizzled… the bakes I crave are the ones that make me nod and go “oh yeah that’s special”. The ones that might seem simple but are anything but. That special quality takes years to master. I have loved learning the secret skills and ingredients that can turn an ordinary chocolate chip cookie into the Dunk OG Chocolate Chip cookie. It’s that special baking science that totally surprises you. When you bite into a Bakewell Frosted Cookie and realise its four delicate layers is pure heaven. And the same with our dips. Cookie Butter was initially slept on because I launched it as ‘Biscoff, but better’. That was doing Cookie Butter no justice, because if Cookie Butter came first, Biscoff would be 👋. And don’t even get me starrrted on our pistachio spread. I swear you’ll never have an off the shelf pistachio cream again. I could go on and on and on… but ultimately, these are the cookies I DREAM about. The ones I’m super proud of because of the secrets that make them so great. If you put a batch in front of me, I can’t resist. These are the ones I’ll still be making when the bakery closes ~ Annabelle 👩🏼‍🍳

yesterdays stories were chaotic. I wasn’t even having a moment it’s just been that way since I went solo last year. The mad thing about purposefully downsizing and closing ~ if you want the why you can find it on my grid ~ is I’ve gone from the girl who text EVERYONE when she got her first sale 🎉 … to selling a million cookies.

…that sounds kinda straightforward doesn’t it… but to get from one to one million involved MULTIPLE breakdowns worrying about making enough sales to pay the bills. It’s taken a lot of time to build our reputation and customer base, not just online, but through wholesale, events, and even through my Bakery Box… so saying no to business feels ALIEN. And also totally wrong!!!

I’ve been that girl who quit her job and then cried worrying about making sales to pay my rent. I’ve honestly done WILD (legal) things for a fiver just to build my bakery.

You have to fight to survive in this industry!! Everyday is a hustle. Covid times were traumatising. And the subsequent price rises crippling.

So now I’m at a place where things are steady. I have enough work for a team. The thing is… I AM the team 🙋‍♀️ it’s just me…. So I’ve gotta start saying no. Otherwise chaotic Annabelle will continue, and tbh I want to enjoy my final weeks with Dunk 💕 I want to make them special, I’ve planned 8 weeks of celebrations and yet I can’t even find the time to post about them 😵‍💫

So the long and short of it is, no restock next week ⏰ ..sorry guys!! But I’ve just been chasing my tail and I want to have a good week of making, creating and feeling like I’m in a better place to really celebrate and go out how I want to 🎉 🥰

🥹IT’S FEELING REAL NOW💔

I made the (crazy?) decision to take a break and close the bakery over a year ago… and now we have just TEN weeks left?!?

I don’t know how that happened and I think I’ll be denial until week 9…. But there’s no ignoring it now… THE COUNTDOWN HAS STARTED…. And that means going into the archive and trying to remake as many of your favourite bakes as possible!! 👩🏼‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳

(It also means I’ve got 10 weeks of knowing this is it…I’m not making that again 😭💔MY HEART)

ANYHOO - we gotta persevere!!! WEEK ONE IS THE RETURN OF DECADUNKS 🎉

The best advice I can give is just stock up. Get what you like the look of and FREEZE IT!! My regulars know ALL our cookies freeze beautifully because they are freshly baked and individually sealed. I’ve already got future stress thinking of the people waiting till the last week to order…. If cookies are selling fast now…. Week 10 is going to be mental!!! 😵‍💫

Thank you again for all the support - especially when im quiet on here… honestly, im just a quiet processor. This feels like a LOT to take in. Everyday it becomes more real. I still feel super super content with my decision but it’s still hard to let go of something you spent seven years building from nothing…. 😞

🩷 I’ll always be so grateful your support has allowed me to close on my own terms. To not just slink off but to celebrate what we’ve created!!! So let’s go… week one of the FINAL COUNTDOWN CELEBRATION STARTS TONIGHT!!! 🎉

⚠️SUBSTITUTION⚠️

It’s with deep regret that for ALL outstanding orders I’ve had to substitute mini Malteser Bunnies on all Malteser cookies with full-sized versions.

I hope you find love and support during this difficult time as you will be ‘forced’ to munch through a considerable amount more chocolate than you’d originally planned.

I hope you will forgive me for being too tired to realise I was spending £25 more on bunnies than I needed to 😅

Personally I think this was a happy accident…!! and if you’ve still got a pre-order to come (the last of which are going out tomorrow 🙌🏻 🚚) maybe it pays to be the last out! 😘

I would genuinely LOVE to see you!!! I usually get very nervous/bit stressed over events (primarily due to the fact I can’t unbake cookies), but I’m feeling chill, happy and looking forward to an amazing weekend!! 😊

We’ve been doing broadstairs a while now so I see so many familiar faces… I know to expect two people who always come Friday morning for a box of 6 x Cinnamon Buns. One of them will come back 3 hours later for a top up. And then I’ll get a flurry of people who want dipping boxes only, then around lunchtime people go mad for NYC’s….. I just love the familiarity of it all 🥰 whatever you come for, it’s always a lovely day out!!

⏰ 8PM RESTOCK UPDATE ‼️

If you saw my stories in the last 24hrs you’ll know I’ve been struggling with whether to do a normal restock tonight….

This collection is genuinely amazing and we’ve been selling out of a whole weeks worth of bakes in 10 minutes. I know whatever I upload tonight just won’t be enough 😞

And by this point I’m pretty certain my love language is gift giving, and it brings me no joy whatsoever to open the collection up tonight only for people to be disappointed again that they couldn’t get their hands on it 💔

I’m sure there will be people who will specifically want bakes for Easter but I can only make so much….even working till midnight every night. I’ve honestly been trying my best but working alone after 7 years of having a team to help means we’ve probably got to work differently now….

💡 SO HERE’S THE PLAN….

⏰ The whole collection WILL be restocked TONIGHT @ 8PM, except it will be pre-order only. This will ensure you can get your order in, not miss out on these goodies (and maybe even stock up your freezers too - because when I take this collection down it really is gone forever now 😬).

🚚 All your orders will be dispatched within 12 working days. Please be aware this means they will likely arrive AFTER EASTER.

It feels like a bit of a risk doing this but I’m just going with my gut on this one 🙏🏻 I’d rather open everything up and when it arrives it will be a nice “past me looking after future me” surprise ✨
