We had a brilliant morning on the farm, with an enthusiastic green social prescribing group. We had received a very exciting delivery from Emorsgate Seeds | Wildflower Seed | British Native with our own Bishops Hill wildflower seed mix harvested from one of our meadows in 2024. We were hand broadcasting to enhance and restore one of the pasture fields.

As the trees start changing colour it’s still nice to see some colour left in the meadows

Today I talked to the vets about doing a blood test on my dog, the same we would do for the cows. The cows blood test cost £12 for each cow, any guesses how much it costs to take the same bloods for Max?

Vaccinating the herd today to keep them safe from Bluetongue, there are currently 630 confirmed cases (individual premises) infected with it, as of yesterday and it’s spreading scarily quickly.

We were quite surprised to find fruit on the trees we planted this year in March — tasty, decent-sized plums! We are lucky that the farm is heavy clay, which has held onto the moisture a little better than some other soil types. The majority of the 400 trees we planted are doing OK, but they are very much ready for the rain! (Aren’t we all?)
