When Paul Swarbrigg and Sarah Kennard from South of Scotland Enterprise visited Rowan Glen today to learn more about our exciting £1 million-plus investment project and how they could support us in delivering this, we expected plenty of discussion about expansion plans, new equipment and future opportunities.
What we didn't expect was for them to become our newest packing line operatives! 😄
As many of you will have seen in the recent press coverage, Rowan Glen is investing more than £1 million in its Palnure facility, including over £600,000 from the business and a £400,000 grant through the Scottish Government's Food & Drink Processing Scheme. The project will modernise our factory, create a dedicated high-care production environment and support our expansion into cottage cheese production as we continue to grow and diversify our Scottish dairy offering.
Today's visit was a fantastic opportunity to discuss the project and how it will help strengthen food manufacturing in South West Scotland. However, judging by these photos, Paul and Sarah quickly decided the best way to understand our business was to get stuck in and help pack products alongside the team!
A huge thank you to both of them for taking the time to visit, learn more about our plans and experience first-hand what happens on the factory floor. It's always great to meet people who want to understand the realities of food manufacturing and are willing to roll up their sleeves along the way.
That said, we're not entirely sure whether they came to discuss the investment or to audition for a permanent role on the packing line... we'll let the photos speak for themselves! 😉
