Today’s task is to top up the fabric paints, mix, mix, mix. The colours of nature are a real treat at the moment, with leaves and berries coming into their own.

I seriously need to get busy, busy, busy mixing up new batches of fabric stencilling paint. I make my own to ensure that the viscosity and thickness of the paint is absolutely perfect for use with stencils, to avoid unwanted bleeding and to give students the best experience possible when on workshops.

Seasonally inspired, when out walking there’s always something that catches my eye 💛🍂

This is such a rewarding workshop to teach - chalk painting and stencil printing, perfect partners! Swipe to see the decorative beauty that can be created. Folks may choose to keep it floral themed, or lean into the seed head vibe more 🌸🌼🍂🌾 But definitely watch this space next week to see the lovely and unique home accessories that were created 👌🏻

Just in case you didn’t already know, seed head season is one of the moments of greatest inspiration for me. Capturing the beauty of shape, outline, colour and texture in fabric paint and stencil designs is just so rewarding 🌾
Don’t get me wrong, flowers are beautiful too, but there’s just something about seed heads and pods that just do it for me 🤷🏼‍♀️.

A topic of conversation in this month’s Stencilling the Seasons newsletter. - are you signed up?

I’ve been channeling the vibe in the studio for a while getting ready for the Autumn workshop offering, and Mother nature is clearly busy doing her thing too.

Little snippets from this evening and a project that I’ve been working on to inspire the people booked into the “Celebrate Summer Gardens” stencil and chalk paint workshop.

The light atmospherics early evening were so calm, muted and silvery, still hot but different to the bright sky heat of earlier in the week. Sounds awful but I’m grateful that the temps have dropped a bit as I’m rubbish in the heat 🤪🥵
