Bovine Tuberculosis (bTB) testing in cows uses the tuberculin skin test (SICCT). A vet injects avian and bovine tuberculin into the cow’s neck. If a lump forms at the bovine injection site 72 hours later, the cow is considered a “reactor” and may carry the disease. All our cows are tested every 6 months as we are in a high risk area. Testing negative means we can trade cattle at market for a 90 day period.
