Old vines, deep roots, and great company. 🥂 Saturday’s private tasting was a stunning tour of the world’s most resilient vineyards.
From the "petrol" notes of Eden Valley Riesling to the 150-year-old pre-phylloxera vines of Irpinia, we tasted history in every glass.

The Lineup:
✨ Ken Forrester Sparklehorse Cap Classique: Chenin Blanc transformed into world-class fizz. 🇿🇦
🍋 Langmeil Wattle Brae Riesling: Electric lime acidity that cut right through creamy Saint Néctaire. 🇦🇺
🎨 Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino: A velvety masterpiece from 100-year-old vines.🇦🇷
🌿 Château de Sabazan: Earthy, rustic, and incredible value Tannat from 🇫🇷
🍇 Juan Gil Etiqueta Azul: Beloved by everyone who tastes it, drought-resistant Monastrell from Jumilla 🇪🇸
🌹 Feudi di San Gregorio ‘Serpico’: Medieval incense and leather complexity from 150-year-old vines in volcanic soil medieval magic 🇮🇹

Standout pairing: High-altitude Malbec + Aged Gouda. Trust me on this one. 🧀

Last week at , I was honoured to share the results of a 3-year study with D.O. Campo de Borja & the Universities of Navarra and Zaragoza, who have officially proven why Historic Garnacha makes better wines with:

✅ Enhanced flavour profile: More intense, diverse, and consistent aromas compared to younger vines
✅ Pure Terroir: Scientific proof of distinct floral vs. fruity profiles across the region’s villages.

We brought the data to life with six incredible old-vine expressions:

🍷 Vinos del Viento: A fresh & floral expression of old vines from Ainzón.
🍷 Aragonia: Fruit meets spice from old vines in both Magallón and Fuendejalon
🍷 Tres Picos: Perfectly balanced complexity from three villages
🍷 Godina: Elegant, limestone-driven fruit, mainly from Borja.
🍷 Veratón: Deep, savoury intensity from Tabuenca and Borja.
🍷 Palmeri Navalta: High-altitude herbal lift from 100% Tabuenca fruit.

Counting down the days until our press trip to the region next month! ✈️🍇
