19.04.25 spudbros SpudBros

After coming down to London for a few days, I was determined to visit Spud Bros.
So after making my family walk across London to find it, we were greeted by an hour queue wait.
There were moments of temptation to leave the queue, especially with 3 over tired, exhausted, full bladder kids, but I screamed into my map book and waited.
And I’m so glad I did.
I chose chicken curry, garlic butter, cheese, crispy onions and…. tram sauce!
It was Incredible!!!!
The chicken curry was packed with flavour, the potato was creamy and soft. The cheese had melted into the curry and potato and omg it was delicious.
For me, the tram sauce was way too spicy and I wouldn’t have that again. Although, I know it’s really popular with others.
Tomorrow is our last day in London, the chance of me persuading my family to go back for another potato is slim… mainly due to the queues. But, that’s what happens when you sell delicious food 🥔

29.03.25 The Loaded Spud Co

As a Mother’s Day treat to myself, I drove to Bromsgrove especially for a jacket potato. This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of having a jacket spud from The Loaded Spud Co in Bromsgrove market on a Saturday.
They’re flippin’ delicious!!
My son loves the Mac n cheese spud -carb overload.
My daughter today had the bbq pulled pork and I had a little try and it was amazing.
My other son had the classic cheese and beans combo.
But nothing tops my favourite potato from them…. The chicken madras! With cheese, mint yogurt, mango chutney and crispy onions. Absolute heaven!

We will be back! (Probably next Saturday haha)

28.02.25 Mantra street kitchen

Yesterday, we tried burgers from Mantra Street Kitchen. I’ve been eyeing up their food for a while and when I noticed they had the offer of ‘free wings and fries’ with any burger for this weekend -In the words of Rafiki, I knew, ‘it is time!’
I loved the burgers, as you can see from the photos, they had so much meat inside. The meat was juicy and full of flavour.
The pork and the lamb burgers were my favourite.
I didn’t try the wings as hubby demolished them. But the smell of the masala wings was insane!
The chips were yummy (we paid extra for them to be loaded -lamb and jerk chicken.
I would definitely have their food again… they also do a Sunday roast… that will be next!

They had the minted lamb stew as the special.
(It’s also the special on 19.02.25 -my birthday so I may pop back haha)
If you’re in town, go and try their jacket potatoes!

14.02.25 Hill Top Cafe

On Friday, I decided to have the valentines heat at home from Hill Top Cafe.
I think the whole meal could be summarised as ‘incredible’.
Brace yourself… I’ve been to a few Italian restaurants and I don’t think I’ve ever had such amazing Italian food as I do from Jane at Hill Top cafe! It was superb in every bite.

Hubby had the antipasti -however, it was too big for him to eat so I managed to try some and I loved it. Whilst eating it, I was annoyed that I’d not ordered that too… well that was until I heated up my garlic mushrooms on bruschetta.
Oh holy Jesus, Mary and Joseph, it was delicious!!!! That’s now in my top 5 dishes EVER! I never wanted it to end. I’d happily become veggie if I could eat that forever more.

Then for mains, hubby had the chicken which he said was delicious. Infact he was instructed by our son to leave some for him. My son said ‘the best pasta and chicken ever!’ Praise indeed.
He didn’t get to try any of my lasagna because it was melt in the mouth perfection. The softest, most delicious pulled beef ever! … here’s a secret, I’m not a huge lasagna fan, but this is unlike any lasagna you’ll have tried before. It’s simply perfection!
The roast potatoes were wonderful -I was concerned about them as reheated potatoes are usually a no from me, but they were so tasty.
Desserts were perfect to finish.
Jane, who is the amazing chef behind .topcafe and Pastini Queen is a hidden gem of Italian food.
