Earlier this year, Chris won the WooBrew 2026 home brewers competition with his West Coast IPA, Hop, Skip and Stumble, earning him the ultimate prize: the chance to brew his winning b**r commercially at Copper Beech Brewery.
And now, it’s here! 🎉
At 6.8% ABV, Hop, Skip and Stumble is a proper West Coast IPA - clean, crisp, packed with pine and citrus hop character, with a touch of caramel and toasted malt 👊🏻
Chris’ b**r name, originally written as ‘hopskIPAndstumble’, is his playful twist on “Hop, Skip & Jump” (jump appropriately substituted for what may be more accurate after a few pints) whilst cleverly incorporating ‘hops’ and ‘IPA’ into the name.
Chris’ love of brewing began with a shared love of real ale with his dad, and some early attempts at home-brew kits. After his dad passed away, he was inspired to undertake the brewing project they had dreamed about together. What started with homemade equipment has evolved into a fully equipped home brewery producing everything from American IPAs and English bitters to German pilsners, Belgian ales and c***r from his own orchard.
