The name vol-au-vent literally translates to "windblown" in French—because the pastry is so delicate and light, it’s said it could be carried away by a breeze! This iconic creation was perfected by the legendary Marie-Antoine Carême in the early 1800s, turning simple puff pastry into an architectural masterpiece.

These little wonders are going to be filled with sautéed wild mushrooms, charred garlic, crème fraiche and truffle oil for an upcoming wedding.
