Mawuleme Movement meets Environmental Protection Authority (NPA)

Ing. Maxwell Zu-Cudjoe, the Regional Director, commended the Movement for its consistent cleaning activities in the Regional Capital. He added that he would consult with management on how they could support the activities of the Movement, particularly the Mawuleme Eco Brigade, which he described as an initiative that would help build good sanitation habits among learners.

Also present were the Deputy Director, Jeff Coffie, and the Human Resource Manager, Lawrence Evans Logosu.

We do most of our activities on the road and it’s important that we have a good working relation with the MTTD of Ghana Police Service.

We visited them earlier today and it was a very fruitful discussion and an assurance from the Regional MTTD Commander Chief Superintendent Benedicta Akpene Ansah.

She appreciated our visit and encouraged the Movement to do more for the Green and Clean Volta Agenda

We believe Volta Region can become a model Region that’s Clean, Green and Beautiful.

We started by beautifying Ahoe Roundabout. It’s not only in the beauty but it makes the kerbs more visible.

This is just Ahoe Roundabout, imagine we are supported to replicate this on the major streets of Ho and other cities in the Region.

It’s a doable, let’s be intentional.

Beyond our weekly volunteer clean-ups, Mawuleme Movement is building lasting sanitation habits and discipline among young people.
The Ghana Education Service has approved 13 Basic Schools in Ho Municipality for us to pilot the Change Plan
In all 13 schools, we have formed active clubs called the Mawuleme Eco Brigade(MEB)
Our simple but powerful approach:
• Provide each school with 4 colour-coded dustbins
• Train students in proper waste segregation
• Sell non-organic waste for recycling to generate revenue for the brigades
• Convert organic waste into compost to establish school vegetable farms
Through this, students will not only keep their schools and communities clean , they will learn discipline, responsibility, entrepreneurship, and the value of turning waste into wealth.
The Mawuleme Eco Brigade is more than a club.�It is a practical classroom for life, raising a generation that values cleanliness, hard work, and environmental stewardship.
We seek to achieve Clean schools(Environment) Green farms and Disciplined minds.

Over the past 11 months of our work, we have identified a deeply rooted attitudinal challenge towards waste management.

We dispose of waste casually and without guilt. We believe the lasting solution is to build good environmental habits among young people. This belief has led to the establishment of sanitation clubs called the Mawuleme Eco Brigade.

The Ghana Education Service has approved 13+1 Basic Schools for us to pilot our Change Project, and the plan is simple:

1. Teach Good Habits
Educate learners on responsible waste disposal and environmental cleanliness.
2. Segregate Waste
Introduce waste separation at source, making it easier to manage and recycle different types of waste.
3. Sell Inorganic Waste
Collect and sell recyclable inorganic waste to generate revenue for the schools and support the sustainability of the project.
4. Recycle Organic Waste into Manure
Convert organic waste into compost/manure for use in the schools’ gardens and agricultural activities.

THE ASK

To successfully implement the pilot project, we need four (4) dustbins for each of the 13+1 pilot schools, covering two (2) primary schools and two (2) JHS sections per school.

Your support will help us equip these schools with the basic tools needed to change attitudes, build sustainable habits, and raise a generation that sees waste not simply as rubbish, but as a resource.
