These new trees need a name! 🌳🍊🥭

As part of our tree-project we grow now fruittrees. Soon we will transplant them to the farm and then they are ready to be given a name.

Your tree with your name.

Lets grow more trees for a flourishing future for The Gambia

🌳 We already planted 100 Gmelina trees at Somifarms!! It was a huge job but we are very grateful and proud!!

For this tree-project all the trees have been given a name, a name for a loved-one: a parent, a child, a name-to-remember….

We will put labels on the trees when they have grown a bit bigger…so it will be a memory for life…and a flourishing future for The Gambia! 🇬🇲

One day you are very welcome to visit!!

Some 10 years ago I started planting trees! Nowadays I keep on planting trees in my village and at Somifarms.

The raining season in the Gambia is a good time for putting trees in the ground so the trees root well.

Almost one hundred Gmelina-trees are in the ground now and our goal is more! You can plant a tree with your name or the name of your friend, child or another dear-one…

‘When you plant a tree, you plant hope!’ 🌳

🌱 We’re ready… now we just need the rain! 🌧️

At Somifarms in the Gambia, we’re all set to start planting trees. The land is prepared, the seedlings are waiting, and our team is eager to begin. But… the rain is late. And without rain, no tree can grow.

🌳 For us, planting trees means more than just greening the land. It’s an investment in food, in shade, in a livable future. As the poet Lucy Larcom beautifully wrote:

“He who plants a tree, plants a hope.”

So we wait. With patience and trust. As soon as the first drops fall, we’ll get to work. Because hope takes root in action – and we’re ready. 💚
