🔍 Mineral Spotlight #1 – Bloc Oligos 🐂🌱

As grazing season gets underway, ensuring cattle have access to the right minerals is just as important as providing quality grass.

Bloc Oligos is one of the mineral solutions we use to support our cows throughout the grazing season. Designed specifically for grazing cattle, it provides essential trace elements including copper, zinc, manganese, selenium, cobalt, and iodine.

Every day starts the same way on our farm: mixing milk for the calves.

And every day, we're reminded that consistency matters.

We carefully measure the milk powder, mix it with water at 55°C, and feed at the ideal drinking temperature of 40–42°C. The process is simple, reliable, and so easy that even our daughter enjoys helping with the preparation. ❤️

What we appreciate most is the consistency of the milk itself. There is no fat separation during mixing, carrying, or feeding. Every litre remains smooth and uniform, ensuring that the nutrients stay where they belong — in the milk and ultimately in the calves.

That means every calf receives the same balanced nutrition from the first mouthful to the last.

The calves certainly seem to agree. Every day they eagerly line up for their milk, and more often than not they're still licking their noses afterwards, searching for those final drops. 😋🐮

And yes, I've tasted it myself. If I'm being honest, it tastes better than some of the baby formula bottles our daughter drank when she was a baby! 😅

For us, good calf nutrition is about more than growth rates and numbers. It's about knowing that every feed is mixed correctly, fed at the right temperature, and delivers all the nutrition the calves need to get the best possible start in life.

Day after day, feed after feed, that's exactly what we see.

Exciting times at Blackfield Agri Nutrition as we continue to expand our focus on horse nutrition alongside our livestock nutrition range 🐴🌱

The Equibloc Bucket has been getting plenty of attention from some willing testers, and we're delighted with the feedback received so far.

Working closely with Horse Nutrition Project, our aim is to provide practical, science-backed nutritional solutions that support horse health, condition, performance, and overall wellbeing.

Whether it's cattle, sheep, horses, or other livestock, our philosophy remains the same: quality nutrition, backed by knowledge and real-world results.

This is only the beginning, and we're looking forward to sharing more updates, experiences, and results in the months ahead.

Plenty of personality in the shed today 😅

While the calves are busy posing for the camera, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes to keep livestock thriving, balanced minerals, accurately measured milk powder, and consistency every single day.

Whether it’s calves, cows, or livestock in general, nutrition and accuracy play a massive role in health, fertility, growth, and long-term performance.

Funny enough, over time, even a simple digital weighing scale becomes one of the most valuable tools around the yard 🌱🔥

The calves are full of beans - plenty of jumping, kicking, and carrying on in the shed. They definitely seem to know that tomorrow is a big day… heading outside at last ☀️

Great to see them healthy, thriving, and full of confidence. These are the moments that make the hard work worthwhile.

Blackfield Rose is back out with the girls after a very successful embryo flush last week, producing 6 Grade 1 embryos 🐂🔥

At the minute, while we’re waiting on a fresh delivery of lick buckets, the cows are getting their minerals mixed through a small hand-full of ration nuts each day - alongside plenty of quality grass.

Simple management, balanced minerals, and top genetics all play their part when it comes to keeping cattle thriving and performing at their best.

A great result from Rose and great to see her settled straight back into the field. 👌
