We had a successful day this year's Irish Charollais Sheep Society Premier Show & Sale held in Blessington Mart.

- Our LOT 122 - Caltra Erling the Viking (J88 26026), was placed 2nd in the Sheep Ireland SIS Eligible Class & then went on to sell for €4000 to the Tullyear Charollais Flock. Best of luck with him Drew & Stephen Cowan.

- LOT 53 (Sub) - Caltra El Niño (J88 26028) was placed 3rd in the Open Class and was subsequently bought by Dyelan O'Sullivan of the Cloughmill Flock for €2800.

- We were also delighted to purchase LOT 175, a February born lamb that we had picked out from the start of the sale, from the Turret Flock (J9326064), bred by Raymond & Eamon Shanahan.

Well done to Frank & Cathal Jordan on winning the Overall Supreme Champion, and to the I.C.S.S committee for organising a great sale.

The Irish Country Living section of last week's Irish Farmers Journal featured an artcile about the success of the Farmer's Yards social initiative for older farmers at Mountbellew Co-Op Livestock Mart Ltd, Co. Galway, and its subsequent adaptation & roll out in the USA by Pennsylvania Farm Link last year.
Local farmer Patsy Ruane is interviewed within, as well as Dr Shane Conway & Michael Fitzmaurice TD.
