What a weekend at the Ballymaloe Festival of Food.

It was a pleasure to meet Darina Allen and chat about the importance of healthy, high-quality food and the role it plays in our communities and food systems.

I also enjoyed conversations with Rob Coleman, Darren Allen, , Aileen Sheehan,Sophie Bell, and Ailbhe Gerrard on a range of important topics, including food policy, food distribution, building strong relationships between producers and chefs, and supporting women in agriculture.

Events like this remind us of the value of bringing together passionate people from across the food sector to share ideas, challenge perspectives, and help shape a more sustainable future for food.

🥛🌍 Happy World Milk Day! 🌍🥛

Today we celebrate the dedication and hard work of dairy farmers who produce high-quality, nutritious milk for families every day.

Grass-based dairy systems play a vital role, allowing cows to graze on pasture and helping produce milk in a natural and efficient way. Milk remains an important source of essential nutrients, including protein and calcium, in many balanced diets.

Let's connect farming, food and the next generation to our roots of farming

A big thank you to everyone across the dairy sector for their commitment from farm to table.

Great to welcome the SETU and Scottish Government Women in Agriculture team to the farm today.

We had valuable discussions around the issues facing farmers
under CAP reform, Acres, generational renewal and shared how the ACORNS programme supported our farm and opened opportunities.

We also showcased our grass-based farming system, for both our dairy and suckler herds, highlighting the importance of sustainable and efficient livestock production for the future of Irish farming.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, thanks to , to witness first-hand how the European Parliament operates — how policies are discussed, debated, and how common ground is found among European countries in the best interests of the people of Europe through clear communication.

As an Irish farmer, it was a privilege to be given the opportunity to meet President Roberta Metsola, Maria Gafo Gómez-Zamalloa of the EU Commission, Head of Unit for Social Sustainability in DG AGRI, Elena Schubert, Deputy Equality Coordinator in DG AGRI, and Claire Sinsch from DG AGRI’s Communication Unit.

To discuss CAP reform, fertilizer, gender equality, women in agriculture, generational renewal, future of Irish farming and to have our voices heard in the hope of helping shape future Commission policy, was a true honour.

It was a great honour to be part of event held in Tuam Mart.

My Mam having worked in Ennis Mart since 1977, I was delighted to share some insight into life at the mart ringside and to pass on my experience to other women in agriculture. It was especially important to show the next generation that they too have a place at the mart.

A sincere thank you to for talking us through the important work they do, alongside and to for sharing his expertise as an auctioneer and encouraging the young girls present to see that they too could pursue a career as an auctioneer.

🐝 The Honey Bee in Action 🌼

The honey bee is far more than just a honey producer—it’s a cornerstone of our ecosystem. As bees move from flower to flower collecting nectar, they perform pollination, helping plants reproduce and thrive. 🌱

This simple, natural process supports so much of the food we rely on every day—from juicy fruits and fresh vegetables to nuts and seeds. 🍓🥕🌰

Small but mighty, bees truly keep our world blooming. 🌍✨
