Oak Fire Irish Herbals will be working with Enterprise Ireland's New Frontiers Programme at MTU Kerry starting September 2026!

Thank you to the amazing panel for this opportunity and shout out for the advise to get here from so many alumni and friends!

With the help of New Frontiers, Oak Fire Irish Herbals will be able to kick start the journey to provide natural wellness to Ireland and bring Ireland into the global herbal community by creating a community of growers and wellness providers grown and found in Ireland.

I am honoured to receive this opportunity and cannot wait to work with so many amazing people!

Helpful Guide!

We all know how beneficial bees are for the garden but did you know wasps actually do more good than harm? Wasps help control aphids, flies, beetle larvae and caterpillars while at the same time cleaning up the garden by eating dead bugs!

All living beings have a purpose and place in this world, some just need a little more personal space 🐝

Worm Food! 🪱

Happy worms, happy plants 🪱💚🌱
Since I cleared out the vermicomposter (worm farm) yesterday fully, I've been loading the trays again with food for the worms and they are now very happy worms and my strawberries thank them very much!

Today's food included:
Dried chamomile
Egg carton
Toilet paper roll
Plant pruning+ scraps (strawberry, potato, carrot, lemon balm, and lettuce all including the leaves and stems)
Ground almonds
and
Porridge oats

Today I'm playing some catch-up in the garden and one of my tasks was feeding the worms.

Inside the vermicomposter, or worm farm, there is currently a small colony (colony? army?) of worms and they eat a lot, breed quickly, and the plants LOVE the compost they give in return.

And what are they eating today? Lots of veg scraps including carrot, Irish turnip (swede), banana, and potatoes, as well as egg shells, and some "browns" and "greens" such as shredded egg carton and leaves from the garden.
