🌾 Basumati Snan – A Sacred Tradition of Raja Festival 🌼

Before Raja Sankranti, we honor Mother Earth (Basumati) through a ritual bath, known as Basumati Snana. This age-old Odia tradition involves worshipping household grinding stones like Silapua and Pestle as symbolic representations of the earth goddess. Flowers, turmeric paste, and sindoor are offered with devotion. 🙏

This ritual signifies gratitude to Mother Earth for her fertility and abundance before she rests during the three days of Raja.

Let’s cherish and preserve our Odia heritage and rituals that beautifully connect us with nature and our roots. ❤️
