Meanwhile, here I am - 30-minute lunch break, and just 2 spices in my “luxury” spice box (chilli powder & turmeric..bas, khatam).

Result?
Little millet masala rotis + “throw-and-stir” aloo sabzi.

Hole that makes a whole vada 😁
Medu vada batter is soft, fluffy, slightly runny and is very tricky to handle. It took many trials and training lessons from my MIL, for me to get it right.

Not perfect shaped vada though..but am getting there..slowly..😊

How to do it?
Take a beetle/paan leaf (banana leaf works). Wet the leaf with water. Take a ball of vada batter, place it on leaf and slightly pat to make it round.
Wet your index finger and make a large hole. Slide the vada in oil.

What did kaddu even do to deserve this hate?

But you know what? This humble Kaddu has been quietly converting people in my kitchen.

Yes, even the strict “anything but kaddu” gang.

Here’s one such recipe. Don’t worry, no MasterChef pressure here 👇

Steam ~200g pumpkin 🎃
Mash it like you’re venting about life
Add:
1 cup methi
1 cup little millet flour
Spices enter like a Bollywood squad:
(Red chilli, Turmeric, Dry mango powder, Cumin powder, Ajwain), Salt
Mix, knead… and guess what?

👉 No water needed.

Roll parathas (or at least try… we don’t judge shapes here 😌)

Cook. Eat. Repeat.

Pro tips (aka things I learned the hard way):
🎯 Hot pumpkin = dough behaves better than us during arguments
🎯 Use butter paper/banana leaf unless you enjoy paratha abstract art

This might be kaddu’s comeback story.

Daughter is leaving for work after a short vacation.
We dropped her at station. She asks us to leave because it’s already 11 pm, and we might reach home by midnight.

But there he is..making her bed…like she’s still his tiny little girl 😲

And madam?
Just sitting there supervising like a CEO.

But back home?
They argue. Talk over each other.

And the rest of the family (me and son)?

We quietly exit the room.
Because we both know..it’s not a fight.
It’s two carbon copies…clashing in different fonts 🤭

But behind all the drama, eye-rolling and mini fights…there’s a bond only they (father & daughter) understand.

And she knows something for sure.
