सरकार ने थोक उपभोक्ताओं के लिए चीनी का स्टॉक रखने की मौजूदा सीमा 15 दिन से बढ़ाकर 30 दिन कर दी है। हालांकि 15 दिन से अधिक का स्टॉक केवल एडवांस ऑथराइजेशन और टैरिफ रेट कोटा के तहत आयातित चीनी से पूरा किया जा सकेगा। इस फैसले का उद्देश्य त्योहारी सीजन में औद्योगिक आपूर्ति सुनिश्चित करना है।

Sharad Pawar has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to immediately declare drought in severely affected areas amid prolonged rains deficit and farmer distress. He sought Rs 50,000 per hectare for farmers, Rs 25,000 for agricultural labourers, loan waivers, crop insurance relief, water and fodder measures, and education-fee waivers.

इंटरनेशनल ग्रेन्स काउंसिल (IGC) ने वर्ष 2026-27 में वैश्विक चावल उत्पादन में गिरावट का अनुमान लगाया है। भारत में खरीफ चावल का उत्पादन कम रहने को इसकी प्रमुख वजह बताया गया है। काउंसिल ने गेहूं, जौ, मक्का और ज्वार के अनुमानों में भी बदलाव किया है। सोयाबीन उत्पादन रिकॉर्ड रहने के आसार हैं।
