💧 WATER TREATMENT CHEMICALS — Know Their Purpose!
In water treatment, every chemical has a specific role. Choosing the right chemical and applying the correct dosage is essential for water quality, process stability, and equipment protection.
🔹 Chlorine → Disinfection
🔹 Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) → Disinfection
🔹 Calcium Hypochlorite → Disinfection
🔹 Alum → Coagulation & removal of suspended impurities
🔹 Ferric Chloride → Coagulant
🔹 PAC (Poly Aluminium Chloride) → Effective coagulation
🔹 Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) → pH increase
🔹 Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) → pH reduction
🔹 Antiscalant → Controls scale formation, especially in RO systems
🔹 Antifoam → Controls unwanted foam
🔹 Activated Carbon → Removes organic compounds, chlorine & odors
🔹 Biocide → Controls microbial growth
⚠️ Important: Chemical selection and dosage should always be based on raw water characteristics, jar testing, process requirements and system design.
