Sunday afternoon. Lunch is done. We’re lying down, just talking and relaxing. ❤ī¸
And somehow, a random little question turns into a learning moment..
I ask her, “How many colours are there in a rainbow?” 🌈
She starts answering and naming them one by one.
She remembers some, forgets some, pauses and looks at me..
I remind her of the ones she missed, and she happily repeats them and completes the whole rainbow. 🌈✨
Nothing was planned..
No worksheet.
No sitting at a table.
No “study time”.
Just a conversation between a mother and her little girl.
This is one of the things I love about unschooling. Learning can happen anywhere, anytime, in the middle of an ordinary Sunday afternoon.
And I don’t expect her to remember everything perfectly. Forgetting is part of learning too. Sometimes I give her a little reminder, sometimes she figures it out herself, and sometimes we learn it together.
For me, unschooling is not about leaving the child completely on their own. It is about following their curiosity, bringing learning into everyday life and being there to gently support when they need us. 🌱
Today it was the colours of a rainbow..
Tomorrow it might be something completely different..
Learning doesn’t always need a classroom.
Sometimes it just needs a curious little mind and a conversation. đŸŒˆâ¤ī¸

Today, Baba became the student. 😄

She points at something and asks him, “What is this?”
He answers.
If he gets it right, she claps and says, “Very good!” đŸ‘â¤ī¸
If he gets it wrong, she immediately corrects him. 😄
And sometimes, after hearing Baba’s wrong answer, even she forgets the right one and has to think again. 😂
And then comes Baba saying, “I don’t want to study!”
To which madam has absolutely no patience and gives him a little scolding. 😂
What makes me smile most is how naturally this happens.
She isn’t just answering questions anymore. She is remembering, questioning, correcting, listening, appreciating and even teaching.
And Baba isn’t always the one teaching her. Sometimes he gets to be the learner too.
There is no pressure to get every answer right. No making fun of a wrong answer. No fear of making mistakes. A wrong answer simply becomes another chance to think, remember and try again.
And a correct answer gets a little “Very good!” and a round of applause. 👏🌸
This is the kind of learning environment we are trying to create at home, without making everything feel like a lesson..
A little child-led learning, a little positive reinforcement, a lot of conversation and play, and most importantly, the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them.
Because sometimes the best classroom is simply a father, a daughter, a few questions and a whole lot of curiosity. ❤ī¸đŸŒą

When she gets stuck, I tell her, “Try to rememberâ€Ļ”
Then I give her little hints.
She thinks about it, tries againâ€Ļ and sometimes she still can’t get it. 😄
So I tell her the name, and she happily repeats it. ❤ī¸
And that little exchange is learning too..

For me, unschooling isn’t about expecting a child to know everything independently. It is about being there when curiosity leads to a question, offering a little support, giving them the space to think, and helping when they need it.
She doesn’t have to remember every flower name perfectly. She just needs to stay curious enough to ask, “What is this?” 🌷
And that curiosity is what I want to nurture. ✨đŸ§ŋ

A simple doll. A beautiful lesson. ❤ī¸

When I gifted her this doll, I told her, “She is your daughter.”

Today I watched her become a teacher. She patiently explained things, spoke gently, and cared for her little one with so much love. No one taught her how to do this. She is simply reflecting the world she experiences every day.

This is why I believe children learn best through play, observation, and real life experiences. Every pretend classroom, every conversation with a doll, and every little act of care is building empathy, confidence, communication, and imagination.

Play is never “just play.” It is childhood doing exactly what it is meant to do. đŸŒŋđŸ§¸â¤ī¸

Instead of teaching children to chase greatness, teach them to feel deeply, love freely, and find wonder in ordinary life. Because when the ordinary becomes beautiful, the extraordinary follows.
