Beat the summer heat with this nostalgic, tangy, and spiced Jam Makha 🍇
Ingredients:
Main Fruit: 200g fresh Jamun (Black plums).
1 tsp red chilli powder (or chilli flakes).
1 tsp black salt (bit noon).
1 tsp regular white sugar.
Fresh Add-ins:
½ fresh lime (juiced).
2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped.
1-2 fresh Gondhoraj lime leaves (optional, for aroma).
Method:
Wash & Prep: Thoroughly wash the jamun berries in clean water. Using a sharp knife, make a light slice or slit through the skin of each berry to help them absorb the spices.
Season in the Pot: Place the prepped jamuns into a traditional clay pot (or a jar with a tight lid).
Add the Flavours: Add the red chilli powder, black salt, and sugar into the pot. Squeeze the fresh lime juice directly over the berries and scatter the chopped coriander leaves on top. Toss in a torn lime leaf for an extra burst of freshness.
The Magic Shake: Cover the clay pot firmly with its lid. Hold it tight and shake vigorously for 20–30 seconds. The friction will bruise the berries slightly, releasing their juices and blending them beautifully with the sweet, salty, and fiery spices.
Serve: Open the lid, pour the glossy, purple street-style jamun mix onto a fresh leaf, and enjoy immediately!
