*Significance* :- Celebrates the victory of good over evil
*Celebrations* :- Marks the end of Durga Puja and Ramnavmi
*Observances* :- Putting tika on forehead, prayers, religious rituals like burning an effigy of Ravana


It falls on the tenth day of Sharada Navratri but the celebrations and cultural practices differ with different region of culturally diverse India yet amazingly, the essence of the festival remains.

Paratha is a flatbread native to South Asia, prevalent throughout the modern-day nations of India, where wheat is the traditional staple.


A flat, thick piece of unleavened bread fried on a griddle or baked in a tandoor. Paratha variants when suffed with vegetables / spieces.


No matter how you say it, paranthas have been an Indian breakfast staple since like, forever.

NAVRATRI SPECIAL SABUDANA KHICHDI

Sabudana Khichdi
During Navratris, Hindu devotees keep fasting for nine days to please and seek blessings of Goddess Durga. There can be variation in the number of fasting days.


Sabudana khichdi is one of the most popular fasting dish that is made with sabudana pearls, boiled potatoes, roasted peanuts and a few spices. It is usually made during Hindu fasting days like Navratri or Mahashivratri or Ekadashi. I have shared a Maharashtrian-style recipe of a perfect non-sticky sabudana ki khichdi that I have been making for decades.
