on Alcohol, Ayurveda & Antidotes πŸ₯‚

Long weekends tend to be filled with celebratory indulgences and of course some social drinking 🍻 in no way encourages the consumption of alcohol, however, should you indulge in it then you can keep in mind a few dos and donts to ensure there is minimum impact to your digestive fire πŸ”₯

βœ… Go for Drunch! Basically, have your drinks between 11 AM and 3 PM
βœ… Always eat while drinking so here’s your chance to have some finger food
βœ… Try to eat a Kapha enhancing meal right before your drinks like curd-rice or ghee laced upma
βœ… Chew on some fennel seeds or cloves post your drinks
βœ… Have a breakfast of spiked stewed apples the next day

❌ Avoid having dessert with or post your drinks
❌ Drinking post sunset
❌ More than 2 glasses or mixing different alcoholic drinks like having a tequila shot and then having wine

SHARE this with your friends and family to encourage responsible drinking 🍾

Ayurvedic talks about caring for your sinuses through your nose. And the benefits go beyond just your nasal passage, it can even help you battle πŸ‘±πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
Have recently come across one of the most authentic concoctions to perform Nasya (traditionally called Anutailam) by πŸ‘©πŸ»β€βš•οΈ

I am soo soo excited to be going live with my favourite fitness YouTuber Sabah Kadri! 🀩

Sabah has Bollywood Dance Workout videos on her YouTube channel and I have been following her since October 2020. I have danced to the tunes of each and every video on her channel and I have to say that I was never so regular with my workouts before I discovered her on YouTube. πŸ’ͺ🏼

January is a month of new beginnings and the best time to take new initatiatives that serve our mind and body well.
Years ago, Ayurveda had already laid out a routine for us based on our body types that would help us live our best lives.
However, how practical is this Ayurvedic Dinacharya in 2022?

We will have Muskan Soni answer all our questions in a Live tomorrow (Saturday) at 12 PM IST.

DM ME YOUR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO TAKE THEM UP DURING THE LIVE!

CHRISTMAS BRUNCH & HIGH TEA IDEAS
Here are 4 simple dishes that you can easily whipup at home while hosting friends and family at home for the holidays. All the ingredients are Vegetarian and Jain friendly!

1. Spiked Hot Chocolate with a Gingerbread Cookie - As the 21st century believers of Ayurveda we start our brunch with a homemade cinnamon spiked Hot Chocolate alongwith a classic Gingerbread cookie from

2. CharcuTREE Board - Next is my version of the meatless cheese board trying to capture all the 6 tastes in Ayurveda. Some sweet strawberries, some sour cream cheese and olives, some salty toasties, some bitter basil pesto dips, some pungent salsa and astringent veggies with hummus

3. Homemade Burrata on Sourdough Toast - I love this super easy homemade Burrata recipe by atop a sourdough toast from along with some tomatoes, olives and herbs.

4. Strawberry Biscoff Tiramisu - And you end it with a dessert that is seasonal and can never really go wrong! It is not too sweet and beautifully marries Biscoff with the everything Strawberries in the winters of Mumbai.

What do you think about this perfect art of balancing between actually cooking, baking and simply assembling?

It's almost DECEMBER πŸŽ„

With another roller coaster year coming to an end, it's time to set the foundation for the New Year. To be able to welcome new opportunities, new vibes, new things and build new habits we need to be able to let go off the old energy. The part of you that no longer serves you. Thus, alongwith all the merry making that we will do this month we should also undertake a Holistic Detox to prep ourselves for 2022.

βšͺ A Physical Detox could be anything to do with your physical body and your physical space. It could be around what you eat or doing 12 Suryanamaskars every single day of December and move your body. It could also be simply decluttering different corners in your home everyday and indulge in the this season.

βšͺ A Mental Detox is to declutter your head. You want to reduce your exposure to a stimuli overload. This would majorly include things like going off an app you use a lot could be social media, gaming related, even news (that causes some serious INFOXICATION) or even your favourite OTT platforms. You'll see the difference when you do this for an entire month.

βšͺ A Spiritual Detox is to connect with your inner self and be more aligned with who you are. During the day there are so many things and people that cast their influence on us and the one person we alway seem to de-prioritise is our SELF. A way to tune ourselves to who we really are and our purpose is to spend quality time with ourselves. It could be practicing 15 mins of silent time everyday or meditate (with an app, while walking or with music) or simply using tools like journalling to process life, emotions and feelings.

TELL ME WHAT IS GOING TO BE YOUR FORM OF DETOX?

For optimum digestion and nourishment, it is ideal to have a meal with all 6 tastes included in it and in a certain order too.

Ayurveda recognises six tastes, each of which has a vital role to play in our physiology, health, and well-being.
1. sweet
2. sour
3. salty
4. pungent
5. bitter
6. astringent

Hold on! By 'taste' we aren't referring to sweets and laddos for sweet taste or herbs for astringent taste. Every food article has a dominant 'rasa'/taste which determines its quality and impact on our system.

Not just our food that we eat but the order and pattern in which we consume it also has a deep link with our digestive system.

Our desi Indian thaali is a balanced meal in itself and is usually composed of a good split of the so called carbs, proteins, fibre et al with a maximum component of grains. There are two primary grains either it is rice or wheat or sometimes even both.

While everything else is pretty standard for each Doshic imbalance, your portion of grain should change based on the doshic imbalance you currently have.

For example, a Vata imbalance causes the air and space in your body to be high which requires you to balance it by maxmising your grain intake. Similarly, pulses need to be kept to a bare minimum (especially the heavy pulses) as they tend to aggravate the air and space in the body.

In case of a Kapha imbalance, you need to regulate your grain intake or substitute the heavier grains by millets like a Bajra during this time of the year.

Along with your body type you should also be mindful of your Koshta- your digestive fire before personalising your diet to ensure it is balanced for your body ❀️ Your daily bowel movements determine your Koshta. DM me for more details. πŸ’Œ
