Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Avirbhav Kshetra (also referred to as the Batadrava Cultural Project) is a major cultural, spiritual, and heritage complex inaugurated on December 29, 2025, in Nagaon district, Assam. Key Details of the Project:
Location: Situated at Batadrava near Bordowa Than in Nagaon, which is recognized as the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardev.
Inauguration: The project was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Development Cost: The redevelopment of this holy site was completed at a cost of approximately ₹227 crore.
Area: The project covers 165 bighas of land.
Components: The complex includes a renovated Naamghar, Guru Asan Bhawan, a Kalakendra (cultural center), a library, a research and skill development center, a yatri nivas (tourist lodge), a health centre, a musical fountain, and a laser show.
Purpose: It aims to transform the Batadrava Than into a world-class cultural and spiritual tourism hub to preserve and promote Assam's Vaishnavite heritage.
