🏸 From Extra Tummy to Extra Energy: Jit's Fitness Story After 35

There was a time when Jit could finish a plate of biryani, climb three floors, and still have energy left to argue about cricket. 😄

Somewhere after 35, things changed.

The stairs suddenly felt steeper, the breathing became heavier, and the tummy quietly moved in as a permanent family member without asking for permission.

Like many people, Jit tried gym memberships a few times. The enthusiasm lasted longer than some memberships, but not by much. 😅

Then badminton happened.

What started as an occasional game became a regular habit. No pressure, no complicated workout plans. Just a racket, some friendly competition, lots of sweating, and plenty of laughter. 🏸

At the same time, life at Smijit Kitchen taught us something important. Good health doesn't mean saying goodbye to good food.

Smi continued cooking the homemade meals we love—fish curries, vegetables, dal, rice, and occasional treats too. The difference was balance, portion control, and consistency. 🍲❤️

Slowly, the changes started showing. The tummy became smaller, energy levels improved, clothes fit better, and climbing those same stairs no longer felt like a mountain expedition.

The goal was never six-pack abs.

The goal was to feel lighter, healthier, and have enough energy to enjoy family, food, badminton, and life.

Sometimes the biggest transformations come from the smallest habits repeated every day. ✨

Smijit Winter Dryfish Curry – Bangda Sim Aloo

In every Sylheti home, winter has a special perfume –
the smell of dryfish simmering with sim and aloo.

Jit grew up on Nuna Ilish dryfish,
but in Bengaluru, finding that taste is almost impossible.
Until one day we spotted Bangda (mackerel) dryfish in Lulu Mall
and both of us looked at each other with the same thought.

Smi took that Bangda, our sim and aloo, and recreated our Sylheti style winter dryfish curry in this Smijit kitchen.

One bite and it was 99.99% Nuna Ilish –suddenly we were back in Silchar, at the old dining table, steaming rice, cold weather and happy noise in the house.

If this Bangda Sim Aloo Dryfish Curry looks like your kind of nostalgia, save this Reel and comment DRYFISH for the full recipe. 🐟❄️🍛

🎨 Art from Smijit's Little Heart

Cooking is art. Food is poetry. Life is a canvas.

🌈At 11, our little one sees the world through colors, imagination, and pure joy. Her artwork – some imagined, some inspired by favorite shows and nature – reminds us that creativity doesn't have an age limit, and neither does love.

From our kitchen to her sketchbook, everything we make at Smijit Kitchen comes from the same place: the heart❤️

These beautiful pieces are reminders that Smijit isn't just about recipes – it's about celebrating every form of creativity, every color in life, and every moment of togetherness. 💚

Swipe through her gallery and tell us: which artwork touches your heart the most? 👇

Big proud parents moment coming through 💙

Til‑Kaju Turai with Aloo 🥔✨

Some days in Smijit Kitchen, the simplest sabzi turns into our biggest surprise.

Smi loves the nutty warmth of til, Jit can’t resist anything with kaju, and today they both met inside a humble turai… plus aloo, because a Bengali kitchen feels incomplete without it.

Sesame seeds roasted till they perfume the kitchen, cashews and poppy seeds ground into a creamy paste, ridge gourd and potato slowly sinking into this golden gravy.
One spoonful and you forget it’s vegetarian – that’s the Smijit magic.

If this creamy Til‑Kaju Turai with Aloo looks like your kind of comfort, save this post and comment **TILKAJU** for the full recipe. 🥘💚
