Mountain Food Connect is showcasing its efforts in reviving and conserving traditional seeds through the promotion of traditional and fusion recipes as part of an exhibition fair during the Vice Chancellor Meet at Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry. The event was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Governor, Lt. General Gurmeet Singh Ji, who extended his best wishes and greetings to the Samoon team."
The Samoon team presented an array of dishes, including millet lentil samosas, barnyard millet kheer, and snacks prepared with local lentils such as gahat and urad. Additionally, they showcased millet cookies made from finger millet and amaranth sweets crafted from rice, jaggery, and wheat flour. The Honourable Governor was delighted by the tasty millet samosa, and the delegates, students, faculty members, and fellow stall holders also thoroughly enjoyed the recipes presented by Mountain Food Connect.

द्वितीय #आगराखालमहोत्सव में माउंटेन फूड कनेक्ट की टीम के द्वारा मंडुवा दाल समोसा, झंगोरा खीर, गहथ पटुंगी, कोदा मोमो को अतिथियों एवं मेले में आए आगंतुकों के समक्ष परोसा गया। उत्तराखंड सरकार के कैबिनेट मंत्री सुबोध उनियाल, ब्लाक प्रमुख राजेन्द्र भंडारी, पूर्व प्रमुख विरेन्द्र कंडारी, मैती आंदोलन के प्रणेता कल्याण सिंह रावत एवं साइकिलिंग ग्रुप को पहाड़ी व्यंजन एवं फ्यूजन स्नेक्स परोसे गये। आश्वस्ति की बात यह रही कि छोटे बच्चों के द्वारा पटुंगी, मंडुवा दाल समोसा, और कोदा मोमो बेहद पसंद किए गए। कुछ लोगों द्वारा अपने स्थान पर भी हमारी टीम को आमंत्रित किया गया।
At the 2nd , the team of Mountain Food Connect served Mandua Dal Samosa, Jhangora Kheer, Gahath Patungi, Koda Momo to the guests and visitors of the fair. Uttarakhand government's Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Block Pramukh Rajendra Bhandari, former Pramukh Virendra Kandhari, Maiti Andolan pioneer Kalyan Singh Rawat and cycling group were served hilly cuisine and fusion snacks. It was reassuring that Patungi, Mandua Dal Samosa, and Koda Momo were liked very much by small children. Some people even invited our team to their place.

A memorable convergence of Chipko and Appiko movements took place at Mountain Food Connect. Appiko, inspired by Chipko, was initiated in Karnataka and southern India. Renowned environmentalists Pandurang Hegde and Ramkrishna Hegde, along with George Joseph, who wrote a book on renowned personality shri Sunder Lal Bahuguna arrived in Khari via Dehradun. They were accompanied by esteemed Dhoom Singh Negi and Vijay Jardhari. Discussions commenced with reminiscences of Chipko, focusing on traditional seeds, crops, and local cuisine. George displayed keen interest in local produce. A specially prepared meal featuring Gahat phaanu, Jhangora, Kode ki roti, Rai, and Kaddu ki sabzi, accompanied by homemade yogurt and local Rajma dal, was served. All guests savored the meal and later relished Jhangore ki kheer. The visiting dignitaries extended their well-wishes and support to the Mountain Food Connect team for promoting this initiative.
