Often “Hyped” spots won’t live upto the mark !
Or is “Hype” defined by one’s personal experience ⁉️
My experience on a hyped meals spot which is around 50 years old belonging in the heart of Pudukkottai district is here !
“How can you miss Palaniyappa when you visit Pudukkottai 🤦♂️⁉️” This is one question I myself had heard multiple times so yeah , I decided to drop myself for a lunch at this famous spot !
It was a weekday and peak lunchtime and still , the crowd was too much to handle even with ample space for accommodation! Mind you, don’t get fooled by the small name board and old school entrance , they have a really big multiple dine in spots inside . So we waited few mins and got seated inside one of AC halls
They took the orders which was a Mutton biriyani and non veg meals . Also , you get a monstrous plate filled with all the varities of side dishes to order ( like a typical south indian non veg meal spot !) . But damn , it took forever for the order to arrive !! I was lucky to get the mutton biriyani early but till I finished it , there wasn’t even a gravy served for meals ! The rice literally froze to cold before everything else arrived 🤦♂️
Now coming to the taste , the mutton biriyani punched way above my expectations 🥹🫶🏼with fat succulent mutton pieces packed inside aromatic rice, it was a really good biriyani! But the dalcha served kinda totally ruined the biriyani for me 🤦♂️‼️ Coming to the meals, all the gravies served were lukewarm to cold and straight out bland 😒 it just didn’t sit well for me ! The side dishes served were top notch and fresh ( atleast) which kinda eased out the experience .
The price here is however honestly shocking! They could easily overcharge here but the rates were honest ( compared to Trichy from my experience) . I get that the spot gets too rushed and it’s not an easy task to manage crowd but the servants were roaming here and there and one had to remind them often about the order and its really easy to get frustrated (Happened to me , happened to many on the day I went) . So I request the management to address this and … That’s it ! It’s actually a good enough spot . Maybe try it someday when you got ample time and patience 😉✅
