According to a book, there are few things that help a man decide if a first meeting needs to turn into a first date. Jacob Tomsky, author of Heads in Beds: A Reckless Memoir of Hotels, Hustles and So-Called Hospitality has revealed what men really want when they first meet a woman and provided tips to prepare for first meeting, according to the Huffingtonpost. First, according to him, you should assume that you are an awesome, quality person. This is not about having a big ego. Its about not feeling insecure, not laughing too often and too long at what is not funny enough and not agreeing too fast and repeatedly before any actual points or ideas are fully expressed, he said. He explained that when youre busy thinking about all your possible flaws and faults, you might end up sounding like this: Yeah, totally, haha, yeah, haha, totally, yeah. Haha. If you take your awesomeness as a given, you can focus on finding out what is awesome about the guy you just met. This will ensure that you remain genuine, and the conversation will end up the same way. Skip the sharp-edged wit, Tomsky suggested, adding that love doesnt always need a laugh track. Dont invite friends on a date. He suggests people to show up mentally unaccompanied on date, so that the couple could spend the whole night discovering what exactly they do like about each other. Stop your brain from shuffling through other thoughts and focus on what your date is speaking, he suggested. Tell exactly what the other person wants to hear, like something you are passionate about. It may be about job, art, hobby or family. Because Tomsky thinks nothing is s*xier than women who know what they want in life and who are actively trying to get it, because nothing sounds more enticing coming out of a womans mouth than something she feels passionate about.

Take the lead: Men enjoy it when you initiate lo******ng
While men may keep asking themselves the eternally puzzling question - what do women really want, there are several things that the fairer s*x unfairly assumes about men. While each man is different, here are some simple things you should know about your testosterone fuelled counterparts...

Some men like to talk about feelings albeit indirectly. Be innovative and ask him questions that might reveal how he feels for you. Ask him how he would surprise you with a romantic getaway.

There are some men who like to express their feelings of love through actions. Pay attention to the things he does around the house or just for you. Does he help without you telling him? Little things that make you smile are his way of expressing his feelings.

A recent survey said that the only reason men take longer to commit is because they want to be absolutely sure about their decision and not because they're scared to commit.

Women often complain that men don't listen when they talk. While this might be true in some cases, men usually prefer to listen quietly without giving the expected monosyllables like, 'Ok', 'Yes' or 'Fine'. Don't fret - he's probably processing everything you're saying and thinking about it silently.

Most men begin to get annoyed when a woman starts whining and clingy. Men enjoy spending time by themselves, too. So while spending time together doing activities that you both enjoy is fine, give him space to pursue his own hobbies as well.

Don't try to drop subtle hints to men - they don't get it. If you want to tell your guy something, say it directly.

Men think about s*x way more than women. Accept it. But remember that thinking and fantasising is not the same as doing. And several men find s*xual intimacy more satisfying when they're in a a committed and loving relationship.

Men like it when you initiate s*x. They like being pursued. Experts say that most men wished their partner initiated s*x more often. Don't feel shy about taking the lead. He enjoys and wants that.

If you thought that men are always ready for lo******ng, think again. Just like women, men, too, sometimes are not in the mood for s*x. This could be for a variety of reasons - stress at work or home. Don't take it personally.

All guys get performance anxiety at some point or the other for different reasons. Help him relax and be supportive.

ISLAMABAD: A man and his wife were not allowed to sit beside each other at a McDonalds outlet in Pakistan by managers, who told the couple that such behavior would have a negative impact on the "Islamic family atmosphere" of the outlet.

Noman Ansari, an exporter, said the incident occurred at a McDonalds outlet in Karachi on Sunday when he and his wife decided to stop for a drink while returning from a friend's birthday party.

As Ansari sat down next to his wife and put his arm on the seat behind her shoulder, a McDonald's employee asked him to move to the chair opposite to her. When Ansari asked the employee why he couldn't sit next to his wife, the employee replied: "Sir, this is a family restaurant. Couples sitting together is against the policy of McDonalds Pakistan, as it goes against the family atmosphere of the restaurant."

Even when Ansari pointed out that they were married, the employee said: "I am sorry sir, but you can't sit side by side."

According to Ansari's account of the incident in a blog posted on the website of The Express Tribune, he decided to take up the matter with two managers, who told him "this was a policy from upper management because couples, even married ones, sitting with each other, were a negative impact on the Islamic family atmosphere of McDonalds".

Ansari, who pointed out that he had seen couples sitting together while growing up in Saudi Arabia, said he was "amused yet also saddened" by the incident. "Amused, because it was all very silly, and saddened because of the state of affairs this brewing incident was pointing to," he wrote in the blog.

"The question is; who are they to judge us?" he wrote. All three McDonalds employees involved in the incident, he said, did not have the "aura of extreme minded Muslims". The employees were only following orders and if "anyone is at fault here, it is McDonalds Pakistan", he said.

The incident has sparked a fresh debate on the attempts being made by Islamic hardliners to mould public behaviour and thinking in line with their own puritanical beliefs. Public displays of affection are frowned upon in Pakistan but Ansari pointed out that Islamic law "doesn't suggest something as ridiculous as forbidding couples to sit together".

Of the 1,352 people who participated till last night in a poll on Ansari's blog on whether men and women should be allowed to sit together at restaurants, an overwhelming 87 per cent responded positively.

There was no word from McDonalds on the incident.

The Great East Japan Earthquake and one of its aftershocks last year have put so much pressure on Mount Fuji''s magma chamber, that it could very well erupt, researchers have warned. The National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention said that however, the jump in pressure is not the only factor that could cause the volcano to blow, and no signs of a pending eruption have been detected. Based on the tectonic movements caused by the magnitude 9.0 quake that struck off the coast of the Tohoku region in March 2011 and the magnitude 6.4 quake that followed four days later, the researchers estimate that about 1.6 megapascals of pressure were placed on the magma chamber, which is equivalent to an atmospheric pressure of some 15.8 kg per sq. cm., The Japan Times reports. Mount Fuji most recently erupted in 1707 but under the same circumstances. At the time, the rise in pressure caused by the preceding quake, which hit right before the eruption, was weaker than that caused by last year''s quakes, the group said. The group said that in the past, 0.1 to several megapascals of pressure have been enough to trigger volcanic eruptions, including at Mount Fuji. Although conditions in the magma chamber vary, 1.6 megapascals is "not a small figure," said Eisuke Fujita, a senior researcher at the institute.

A series of earthquakes hit rural southwestern China on Friday, killing at least 43 people and damaging more than 20,000 homes, a government official said.
The quakes, which ranged from a magnitude of 4.8 to 5.6, struck hilly, agricultural areas of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. The spokesman from the Yunnan seismological bureau, Zhang Junwei, said the deaths were in the worst-hit county of Yiliang in Yunnan.

Zhang said another 150 people were hurt.

The official Xinhua News Agency said the quake destroyed or damaged 20,000 homes. Buildings in rural areas in China are often constructed poorly. In 2008, a severe earthquake in Sichuan province, just north of Yunnan, killed nearly 90,000 people, with many of the deaths blamed on poorly built buildings, including schools.

Xinhua quoted an official with the Yunnan civil affairs department as saying more than 100,000 people had been evacuated in Yunnan.

Xinhua said the provincial government had sent work teams to the quake-hit area and the civil affairs department was shipping thousands of tents, blankets and coats to the area.

It said that so far no casualties had been reported in Guizhou, but that homes had been damaged or destroyed there.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude 5.6 quake hit at a depth of 9.8 kilometers (6.1 miles). Shallower earthquakes often cause more damage than deeper ones.

NEW DELHI: Mother Dairy today announced an increase of up to Rs 2 a litre in milk prices in the Delhi-NCR region with effect from tomorrow. Full cream milk will be dearer by Rs 2 per litre, while other variants will be costlier by Re 1 a litre.

One litre of full cream milk (poly pack) will now cost Rs 39, toned milk (poly pack) Rs 30, token milk Rs 28, double toned Rs 26 and skimmed milk Rs 22. Mother Dairy, the largest supplier of milk in the Delhi-NCR, sells more than 30 lakh litres per day (both loose and poly-pack) in the region.

"We have raised milk prices by 4 per cent. For the last one year, we have been holding prices. But now we are forced to increase it because procurement prices have gone up and also the cost of other inputs such as power, diesel and packaging material have increased," Mother Dairy Managing Director S Nagarajan told . In April this year, Amul and Kwality Dairy had increased prices, but Mother Dairy decided against any hike.

The company in statement said it "passes on 75-76 per cent of the consumer price to rural farmers. This may probably be one of the best and most efficient means of ensuring inclusive growth".

DELHI: Two women and a child were killed and four injured this evening when two friends went on a shooting spree before attempting su***de leaving one of them dead, the second such "crime of passion" to rock the national capital this week.

Police said prima facie, the incident, which took place in north-west Delhi's Swaroop Nagar at around 5 PM, appeared to be a "crime of passion" in which one of the attackers shot dead his woman "friend" and targeted his own family members, killing his two-and-half year-old daughter and injuring his wife, another daughter and brother.

Manish (25) and Rajbeer (32) rode a motorcycle into the locality, targeting Rajbeer's brother Krishan who was injured in the firing.

The two then shot dead Jyoti (23), a friend of Manish, followed by Usha Yadav (25), a teacher who is said to be the friend of Rajbeer.

From there, Rajbeer went to his house where he opened fire at his wife Pooja and two daughters Khushi and two-and-half year-old Rashi. Khushi was killed while her mother and sister are battling for life.

Rajbeer and Manish then attempted su***de by shooting themselves. While Rajbeer died, Manish is battling for life.

All of them where rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital where four of them were declared brought dead.

"We are ascertaining the reason why the attacker took this step. Preliminary enquiries suggested it is a passion related crime. We are investigating the matter," a senior official said.

"We have come to know that there was also some property dispute between Rajbeer and Krishan," he said.

This is the second such incident in a week's time in the capital. Earlier on Monday, four members of a family and a landlady were killed by a youth in south-west Delhi's Bindapur and UP's Ghaziabad.

Ravi first killed his cousin Naveen and later shot dead his wife Renu, with whom he had developed a relationship. When Renu's landlady came to her room after hearing gunshots, he allegedly opened fire at her also.

He fled the spot and then drove over 40 km to Ghaziabad where he murdered Renu father Harender and sister Baby before shooting himself dead.

Odisha Assembly passes women's reservation bill

BHUBANESWAR: The bill providing 50 per cent reservation for women in urban local bodies in Odisha was passed by the state assembly today.

Opposition Congress and BJP raised a din and did not participate in the proceedings in the passage of the bill.

The house had debated the Odisha Right to Public Service Bill, 2012 last night but there was no discussion on two other bills - The Odisha Municipal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2012 which provides for women's reservation and Odisha Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of Caste Certificates) Bill, 2011.

All three bills were passed during the day. Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat announced passage of the bills surrounded by marshals who prevented the angry Congress MLAs from capturing the podium.

"In the welfare state, providing services in time is the sine qua non of good giovernance. Thus, it is felt expedient to make law casting an obligation under every public functionary to render service to the citizens within a stipulated time," said Housing and Urban Development Minister Raghunath Mohanty on behalf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Describing Odisha Municipal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2012 as historic, he said provisions would now be made for reserving 50 per cent seats reserved for women in urban local body polls. Earlier, the state had made provision of 50 per cent reservation for women in three tier panchayat bodies.
