🌿 La Scoscesa – Regenerative Farming on Rocky Terrain ⛰️
In the hills of Gaiole in Chianti, Lorenzo Costa is transforming marginal, rocky land into a thriving hub of biodiversity. On his 9-hectare terraced farm, over 150 edible plant species grow without synthetic chemicals, thanks to regenerative and agroecological practices.
🌱 Soil health is boosted with biochar, fermented plant mixtures, and organic amendments.
💧 Water is managed wisely through 19 reservoirs and a smart system of swales and channels, following the principle: slow it, spread it, sink it.

🌳 Saja Project – From Citrus Orchard to Thriving Food Forest 🌾
In Sicily, the Saja social association is transforming an abandoned industrial orange grove into a diverse and resilient food forest. What began with 350 traditional Tarocco orange trees is now a vibrant ecosystem with over 26 citrus varieties and dozens of other fruits—from avocados to pomegranates, figs to pecans. 🍊🥑🌰
Their mission? To live in harmony with nature while reconnecting people and land—not in isolation, but by offering new ways to engage with food, biodiversity, and sustainability.
🌱 A true model of regenerative land use, Saja shows how abandoned land can bloom again.
