New syndicate alert!
Over the last few years we've developed a soft spot for peated Islay wh**ky aged in sherry casks. After last year's 13yo Caol Ila, we're now delighted to syndicate an 11yo Staoisha (Bunnahabhain) aged in a 1st fill PX hoghshead.
For more info and to get your name on this bottling, visit our website below!

A very pleasant marriage of peat and PX sherry consumed on Islay.

No rest for the Lloyd's Liquid Sunshines team. We just had enough time to crack open a bottle of our Eclectic Gin before getting back to work. This time we have an unordinary ex-sherry aged 15yo Linkwood. Why "unordinary"? Quite simply because it is unlike any of the sherry-aged whiskies we've tried since founding. It intrigued us and we trust it will intrigue you too!

Help us reach quorum by participating in the syndicate and let this be your go to tipple this autumn.

An unusual ex Oloroso cask bottling from one of our favourite Speyside distilleries.

A match made in heaven between our Diamond Guyana 17yo rum and a Davidoff Late Hour Toro cigar about to be consumed by yours truly.

Like all Islay distilleries, Caol Ila is mostly known for its signature peated wh**ky but it has also experimented with non-peated spirit for use in blending.

The distillery uses the same malted barley as Lagavulin but the end product differs considerably as a result of Caol Ila’s distillation regime characterized by long fermentation (60 hours) which gives the wash some of the tasting notes associated with the wh**ky: green olive brine, lemon zest and a sweet smokiness comparable to that of Austrian Rauchbier. Caol Ila’s lighter peatiness vs. Lagavulin is also due to the larger size of its pot stills which gives greater surface contact with the spirit which ultimately reduces the heavy phenols.

Lloyd’s Liquid Sunshines was founded on the principle that bespoke single cask bottlings of quality spirits – especially scotch wh**ky and rum – should be made accessible to enthusiasts without the complexity and high costs of individual cask ownership.
