Top 5 FREE things to do in Pisa, Italy 🇮🇹
STOP. Don’t spend €1 in Pisa until you read this 👇
Everyone thinks Pisa is just one photo and a €30 ticket.
It’s not.
Tourists spend thousands here every year and miss the best parts. And they’re FREE.
Here are the 5 FREE things to do in Pisa that are actually worth it:
1. Piazza dei Miracoli WITHOUT paying
Yes, seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa from the outside is completely free. Walk the green lawns. Get the classic photo.
Pro Tip: You can also enter the Duomo (Cathedral) for FREE. Go to the ticket office early and ask for a free timed-entry ticket. They run out fast in summer.
2. Piazza dei Cavalieri - The Square Tourists Skip
This is the real Pisa. No crowds. Just pure Renaissance architecture. Find the Palazzo della Carovana and look closely at the insane detailed facade. This is my favorite spot for photos in my Pisa travel guide.
3. Keith Haring’s Last Mural: “Tuttomondo”
A 2-minute walk from Pisa Centrale station. A massive, colorful masterpiece. This was the final mural Keith Haring painted before he died. Most people walk right past it. Don’t.
4. Sunset Walk on the Lungarni (River Arno)
Skip the restaurants. Do this at golden hour. Walk along the Arno River, cross Ponte di Mezzo, and just stare at the pastel Italian townhouses reflecting on the water. Best free activity in Pisa, Italy for couples.
5. Giardino Scotto - The Local Secret
A 15th-century fortress turned into a hidden garden. Zero tourists. Perfect for a break from the crowds. Locals come here to read, picnic, and escape the heat.
This is how you do budget travel in Italy without feeling cheap.
SAVE this for your Italy itinerary - you’ll need it.
