Join me here as we explore every aspect of the cocktail experience: making cocktails, finding bars, meeting those who make our drinks and so much more! 🍸 Every second of the cocktail experience brings me joy: selecting the bar, sitting down, reading the menu, talking to the floor-tender (as my friend and the best floor-tender in the business Alfonso Califano calls it), choosing the cocktail, watch

ing the bartenders at work, and having it placed in front of me. All of this ceremony is as exciting as the actual act of drinking it. My goal is that each one of the cocktail recipes, spirit reviews, podcast episodes, or Lush Guides gets you as excited as it does me.

Above the entrance to Aleph Rome is a semicircle of golden bees ready all hard at work to make you the best cocktails!

Downstairs, the Lobby Bar wraps you in marble, onyx, and full-on La Dolce Vita glamour with the Heritage Twist made with cherry tomato and mint cordial, the unexpectedly brilliant and the Plum Old Fashioned touched with Sardinian lager!

Upstairs, the Organics Sky Bar opens onto Roman rooftops and church domes with a menu inspired by Rome’s neighborhoods: the Rione Trevi with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple, mango, lime, ginger beer, and a touch of salt; and the the Rione Regola made with Altamura Distilleries Vodka, violet liqueur, raspberry shrub, and tonic!

And that’s only a few of the amazing cocktails!

Together. Lorenzo Politano and his team have created bars that feel unmistakably Roman and cocktails as Pliny the Elder once described honey itself: “dew fallen from the stars.” ✨

Still slightly overwhelmed in the best possible way after the first launch for my book, A Guide to Drinking in Venice.

We celebrated at Oriole in their gorgeous Bamboo Bar with friends, Venice lovers, and many, many spritzes.

Surrounded by so many loved ones holding my book (!) felt pretty magical.

Huge thanks to Select Aperitivo for bringing Venice to the party - the spirit to our spritz and to Bottega Prosecco for sparkle! 🥂🇮🇹

A little pinch-me moment ✨

Huge thank you to Tonic Magazine for publishing an excerpt of my first book A Guide to Drinking in Venice in their 9th issue—a full week before publication!

The excerpt dives into Amaro Nostrano, conceived by my friend Luca Da Vita of Alla Testiere fame together with the great Russell Norman of Brutto fame, and one of those very Venetian stories that says so much about how this city drinks.

Today I’m sitting down with Valentina Mircea, the Bar Manager of The Skyline Bar at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice.

She has spent over ten years in this industry, from London to Brighton to Venice. Whether she’s guiding her team to create a zero-waste signature menu or watching a guest experience the lagoon at sunset, her mission is to make moments into memories.

Took my Author’s copy of A Guide to Drinking in Venice on its first excursion to its spiritual home!!

Almost one week of introducing it to some of the people who helped make it happen, plus as always, found myself doing so much more than previously planned!

🍸 Started off right with the INDOMABILE, created by Aman Venice’s Antonio Ferrara, with Altamura Distilleries Vodka - icy, perfect, and dangerously easy to order a second..then dinner at Quadri!
📚 Book launch for Aperitivo by Chiara Buzzi at The St. Regis Venice with drinks by Antonio and Walter with Select
🌅 Sunset at Skyline Rooftop Bar with Valentina Mircea - watching the lagoon do its golden hour thing (never gets old, not even a little)
🍷 Wine Tasting at Tessitura Bevilacqua
🍺 Beer at Marcianino - one of my fav places in Cannaregio

🍸 New Bar Alert in Shoreditch!

FlipDog .ldn officially opens its doors today (14 March) in Old Street — and it’s bringing a seriously inventive twist to London’s cocktail scene.

Founded by Ukrainian duo Artem Skapenko and Alex Kostenyuk, the bar sits just moments from Old Street Station inside Imperial Hall.

Think bold design, technique-driven cocktails, both a highball bar upstairs and a more immersive cocktail playground downstairs.

A few that I sampled on their signature menu. ⭐

🔥 Morning at the Platform: The Blue Blazer transformed!! Toasted sesame buffalo trace bourbon, Lapsang tea, amaretto, coffee and sherry come together before a 1,200°C heated loggerhead is plunged into the drink!!! (See reel!!!)

🌿 Walking the Hyde Park: Not only gorgeous, but delicious Select Aperitivo, Akvavit and Perrier-Jouët Champagne with fig leaf liqueur and oakmoss.

🍊 Cedroni – Tequila and mezcal meet bitter orange, Luxardo white bitter and Aqua di Cedro. Bright, citrusy and lightly smoky and the best pate de fruit on top!

There’s food too! Homemade crisps, popcorn chicken and octopus skewers!

FlipDog looks ready to shake up Shoreditch.

Paris has taken Venice by storm but this time round, unlike Napoleon in 1797, they’ve arrived with shakers not soldiers. Our guest today is leading the charge!

I’m sitting down with Pietro Lorefice, Bar Manager of Experimental Cocktail Club Venice, one of the bars that changed the cocktail conversation in this city.

Experimental Cocktail Club conquered Paris in 2007 with its innovative ideas, sparking Europe’s modern cocktail revival and growing into an influential group of bars and hotels around the world.

In Venice, Pietro is at the helm and we’re talking craft, culture, and what it really takes to run one of Venice’s most exciting bars.
