We want to teach people about scallops, how they can be sustainably fished, and give simple tasty ideas on how to prepare them. Providing a sustainable product is key and is the reason we dive for our scallops. Usually hand dived scallops are a luxury reserved for restaurants or the few people who know a scallop diver, our aim is to change that and we believe everyone should have access to this de
licious, versatile and premium product. Most fish mongers and supermarkets will only offer dredged scallops due to their ease of supply and improved profit margins, however we feel the cost to the scallop and their ecology is unsustainable. By diving we are able to hand pick scallops at the correct size and maturity meaning they have the opportunity to continue their natural reproductive cycle (spawning) a number of times, by hand picking we also cause very little disturbance to the seabed and other forms of sea life unlike dredging. We dive for scallops every day the weather permits, they are then shucked (taken out the shell), cleaned and packaged before being delivered to your door. We dive around the coast of Jersey meaning you are receiving a genuine product from Jersey, we can't tell you the exact locations as these are a closely guarded secret.
