My A-I (ah-yi) celebrated her 70th recently and we decided to take her out for a good meal. She’s the type who’s fun to be with as she has zero qualms about anything. “Go with the flow” has been her mantra and the same goes with food. She’s always game and very appreciative when we bring her to try new restaurants.

Dinner at was indeed a good choice. Even if Mother’s Day is over, they still have their Mother’s Day set meal for the entire month of May and it was indeed a good deal as we tried the Classic Set for 4 (Php 4,000).

Let me show you what this set includes:

🥗 Refillable Banchan — no meal at any Korean restaurant will ever be complete or considered legit without some banchan. Sogeum’s selection was indeed impressive and it felt like it’s well-suited for royalty with two kinds of kimchi, mashed sweet potato, fishcake, egg omelette, fresh salad and peanuts/dilis. We have our own favorites from this selection.

🐷 Bossam — this was so good! Tender pork belly that’s boiled but still remained to be so flavorful. It’s served with kimchi radish, fresh lettuce, fresh garlic, fermented shrimp and dipping sauce. This is perfect for those who can’t take the heat. Even the kids enjoyed this.

🐮 Grilled Beef Bulgogi — Definitely one of the best in town! It has a delicious savory and smokey flavor. Yum!

🐖 Pork Samgyupsal — another elevated version of the famous pork samgyupsal as it was served with 3 types of salt — pink salt, green tea salt and classic sea salt.

🦐🦑 Seafood Pajeon — this is my Mom’s favorite and she was very pleased with this version. For me though, it was a bit on the greasy side and the batter was a bit too much that I barely could taste the seafood. Will probably skip this next time.

🍲 Sundubu Jjigae — I love having soup and this was a hearty soup option as it was loaded and I truly meant LOADED with clams, minced pork and tofu.

🥚 Gyranjjim Egg Casserole — last was the birthday girl’s favorite and it was indeed very comforting and yummy.

For a top-quality Korean restaurant, offers very reasonably priced dishes. We will be back! 👍🏻

Good morning! 🌞 My parents taught me that it’s important to start your day by having breakfast because it “breaks the fast” thus giving your body that much needed energy to go about your day. Lately, I’ve been enjoying a variety from homemade sourdough creations from . It started safely with their Signature which was good, had the perfect texture of soft and pillowy inside and a good crunchy bite on the outside. It paired well with a thin spread of butter or some fruit jams.

Then, I moved on to the Sesame which gave a nice nutty kick. Things started to get really interesting. I built my lunch sandwich with this piling each bread with a bed of arugula, a mixed of cold cuts (mushroom lyoner is my fave!), a drizzle of Japanese mayo and mustard plus a sprinkle of pepper on top. Yum! This sandwich creation truly made my day despite how busy it got.

I didn’t stopped there. I got even more creative with the Cheese Sourdough which the kids love. This can be enjoyed on its own or made into another hearty sandwich. We love toasted the bread before consuming and enjoyed the melted cheese bits. 🧀

Last was a surprise! I was never a fan of sweet bread but when your kitchen starts smelling like comforting dark chocolate as the toast bread warms up, it’s like receiving a tight hug before your start your day. I tried it with some cream cheese which was excellent but my choco-loving daughter loaded up her bread slice with more chocolate spread. 🍫

These are just some of ’s creations and she got more for you to discover and enjoy. I can’t wait to try her focaccia as well!

I normally shy away from sourdough as some gets too tough and dry. This one remained very soft even for days. I love how the flavor compliments it without being too overpowering. Each bread was clearly made with love. ❤️

I highly recommend for you to try and bring their bread creations into your breakfast table.

It was a delicious Sunday family lunch at as we tried their specially created masterpiece in collaboration with . Limited for a very short time and for only 40 orders in a day.

Here’s what we tried:

🐮 Beef Brisket & Tendon Egg Noodles with Calamansi Oil — an elevated version of the classic beef brisket and tendon noodle that we all grew up enjoying with a slight tangy hint from the calamansi oil. I love how tender the beef was and the noodles were so springy in every bite.

🐓 Salted Egg Chicken Wings with Dalandan Zest — my favorite! It was a treat for the senses. This makes a good starter, IMHO.

🧈 Brown Butter Capiz Scallops — speaking of starters, you just have to try this! Super yummy and juicy grilled scallops with brown butter that’s so perfect to scoop onto your rice.

🐑 Lamb Balsamico Adobo — one of ’s best-sellers and I totally understand why. Served in a classic palayok, you can taste the richness of the lamb adobo in every bite. I purposely saved my rice for this and there was no regrets at all. Yum!

Lechon — dining at on a Sunday is made extra special as you can enjoy their special Organic Negros Lechon by the grams. It’s roasted with a bottle Cerveza Negra and served with lechon sauce and this interesting citrus chutney that helps elevate the lechon’s flavor.

🥑 Avocado Tart — for dessert we had Avocado Tart which was delish! I love avocado and I love how the filling was so good. The crust also had a good texture and the sweetness level was so mild that it allowed the avocado to take centerstage as it should.

Glad to be able to enjoy such a good meal at and we were so lucky to throw the dice and get double digits so we all brought home complimentary cassava cakes too!

Catch the special East Ocean x Grace Park dishes until the end of April!

As I get older, I realize that being able to maintain friendships that lasts more than a decade is something worth celebrating for. What more two decades? This is how long I’ve known my college barkada as we all got together on the first day of class in June 2000 and we’ve been friends since. It’s nice to see how our all-girls barkada of 7 has grown with our spouses and kids joining in the fun.

Here’s our second visit to The Famous Country Waffles. The first was at their Libis branch and recently, at their Opus Mall branch which I find to be more accessible.

🧇 Dubai Pistachio Waffle — we caught on the craze and this one truly delivered. Crisp waffle generously drizzled with pistachio cream and chocolate. So yummy! The sweetness level was just right and we love how crunchy the waffle was on the outside.

🍳 Garlic Longganisa — not bad. Passable comfort food 👌🏻

🥬 Grilled Caesar Salad — this was my fave during my first visit and it continues to win my heart on the second. I love the slightly charred lettuce with a toasty flavor with bacon, cheese and almond slices.

🫕 Queso Beef and Cheese — one great starter especially when dining with a big group. The kids and (the kids at heart) loved munching on the crisp nachos with the creamy cheese dip.

Good comforting and familiar dish which is good for group and family dining. They also have good Chicken and Waffles and their Steak is reasonable and delicious too.

This visit was actually 3 years in the making! We’ve been planning to dine at Abe’s Farm in Magalang, Pampanga but life got so busy that we had to push our plan back. Finally, a week spent closer to nature, with family, allowed us to have this much-awaited lunch. Located at the foot of Mt Arayat, Abe’s Farm is actually a pretty bed and breakfast resort with the original Abe’s restaurant by the entrance. We love the windy breeze and the homey interiors of the restaurant. The kids loved it so much it was such a challenge when it was time to go.

Achi J ordered a feast but here are some of my personal favorites:

🥗 Pako Fern & Tomato Salad — my ultimate Kapampangan favorite! This never fails to put a smile on my face. I love the fresh and crisp pako and the combination with tomatoes and salted egg is just *chef’s kiss*

🦀 Pancit sa Talangka — so rich, sinful and good! It’s “manyaman” as the locals would say. Delicious palabok noodles covered in crab fat sauce, shrimps and chicharon.

🐷 Knockout Knuckles — crispy fried pork leg with a generous amount of chili garlic on top.

🦐 Sinigang na Hipon sa Bayabas — ohhh another favorite! Others would call this Bulanglang. It’s an elevated version of the traditional tamarind soup as it has pureed guava fruit mixed into it. I love it! It’s light and so refreshing. This one also has a good balance of sweet and sour.

🥥 Sikreto ni Maria — for dessert, we ordered a couple of various options to try. First this coconuty creation with suman, mangoes and thick coconut milk. We got so intrigued by the name and luckily the dessert was pretty good.

🌾 Suman Bilyonaryo — another is fried rice cake (suman) served with latik (palm sugar syrup)

What a relaxing meal to cap our camping trip. It’s been a while since we’ve traveled with Paul’s side of the family and we’re glad that despite everyone’s busy schedule, most of us were able to make time to spend time together. ☺️

Residents and visitors of Baguio know how amazing .ph’s croissants and baked pastries are BUT.. did you know that they have delicious hot meals too? 🥰

We chanced upon the not so newly opened branch inside the Baguio Cathedral compound and we decided to have our last lunch here before making our way back to .

The twins made their choice and we added a few more to share:

🥓 Bacon & Eggs : J chose this and the server said that it was a good choice. Indeed, we got a generous portion of honey smoked ham, creamy eggs on a bed of mixed grain rice. Serving was huge! The kids love their bacon on the sweet side and I enjoyed the perfectly cooked egg.

🥩 Beef Kimchi Rice : this was their top recommendation and I made sure to order this too. Oh wow! No wonder it was a bestseller as the beef was super tender and the rice was fragrant with a mild spicy note. This so good and was easily our top choice that meal.

🐓 Chicken Gravy Rice : No meal with kids will ever be complete without chicken and next to J’s Bacon and Egg, L enjoyed this very much. Deep-fried crunchy chicken fillet on a bed of mountain rice with fresh vegges. The gravy was served on the side. Yums! 👌🏻

🍄 Crispy Mushroom: I highly recommend this as starters. Yummy and crispy mushrooms served with cilantro dip. We love fried mushrooms so this was an easy family favorite too.

🌭 Hotdog Sandwich : the only one that fell short from our expectations. The bread was dry and the flavor of the sausage was flat. Not ordering this next time.

We love the view and the windy breeze while enjoying our meal. Of course, my mom loved it that she can visit the Cathedral after our meal.

I love how .ph continues to expand as they now have 3 branches in Baguio City and a pop-up kiosk here in Manila. If you’re able to drop by, also check out their Strawberry Cruffin which is ahhhh-mazing ❤️🍓

📍 Rebel Bakehouse is inside the Baguio Cathedral compound. They also have branches at Irisan (Naguilian Road) and inside the Bell House Library in Camp John Hay.

Summer break has officially begun and up to the mountains we went! We’re back at and this time, we truly enjoyed the built-in air conditioning all day and night.

One thing that I love doing in Baguio is to EAT! For some reason there’s always a growing number of delicious food options to check out and even the tried and tested ones are still worth going back to!

One of our (not so new) finds was . I know how much Mommy loves paella so a quick search on “best paella in Baguio” led me to several posts on Valencia’s. Dubbed as “the best paella in Baguio”, we were all so excited to try.

They began in 2022 just right after the pandemic and the location is near Camp John Hay. J insisted to sit at the veranda as he wanted to enjoy the view while enjoying his meal. 🥰

🦑 Calamares : we started with a plate of crunchy calamares which was well-seasoned and good! The kids and Papa loved this so much.

🐮 Lengua : Mommy requested for this and I’m glad she did! We loved the tender slices of ox tongue in creamy olives and mushroom sauce

🐷 Baby Back Ribs — not quite aligned to our Spanish-themed lunch but here’s another good dish! The meat falls off the bone and the sauce was smokey and savory.

🥘 Paella Valenciana : the star of the show! It was generously packed with a lot of ingredients but was it really the best paella in Baguio? Probably yes but it still might fall behind some of the good ones here. It lacks the tutong (toasted bottom layer) that we all love from paella. It was flavorful but could still be better. Nonetheless, if you want paella in Baguio, this would make a good option.

🍝 Lasagna : for the kids, they asked for lasagna and oh my, it was so salty! The only failed dish that day. I only realized this when I had a bit from the leftover that we packed home. The sauce was salty and it was loaded with cheese bringing the salty level up up up! This was sadly a no for me. 🙅🏻‍♀️

I would recommend sticking to their Spanish fare as the Lengua was definitely worth trying and even the calamres and ribs were 👌🏻.
