⛩️ Tenkawa Benzaiten — a place where visiting can sometimes change your life.

At OKAN’s beauty salon in Osaka, we’ve been serving tea made with Gorogoro Water, freshly collected near Tenkawa Benzaiten in Nara, Japan. 🍵

I love visiting places where the water is delicious. 💕

A beauty salon client whose family home is in Tenkawa Village once told me:

“Even if you use the cheapest shampoo, washing your hair with Tenkawa’s water makes your hair silky smooth. And your skin becomes beautifully radiant, too.” ✨

Tenkawa Village is known as one of Japan’s hidden, mystical places.

I visited Tenkawa because I wanted to truly face the deepest darkness within myself.

For a while, I had been moving forward while feeling lost in the darkness of running my Shopee business.

So I’m taking the time to look at that darkness honestly.

Because sometimes,
when things reach their darkest point, they begin to turn toward the light.

I want to create a place where we can offer women beautiful things that genuinely enrich their lives — while also offering a little healing for the soul.

A place where our customers become happier and happier.

And where we, too, continue becoming happier as we create it. 💕

Through OKAN’S SELECT, I want to embody a world overflowing with joy —
a world where all living beings, plants, minerals, and animals of Japan 🇯🇵 and the entire world can thrive in harmony.

That is the world I want to create. 🌏✨

I visited ECO EAT 🌱

Today, I visited ECO EAT, a store I had been curious about.

They sell food that is close to its best-before date, as well as products that are difficult to sell through regular distribution channels — instead of letting them go to waste.

And I found an amazing deal!

Miso 🍲
Regular price: ¥400
ECO EAT price: ¥60 🤯

That’s only 15% of the original price!

Miso can stay edible for a surprisingly long time depending on the type and how it is stored.

So I started wondering:

“Why does miso have a best-before date in the first place?” 🇯🇵

Apparently, food labeling rules and regulations are part of the reason.

Food loss doesn’t have to be only about
“Don’t throw food away.”

I think it can also start with:

“It’s a great deal, and it’s fun to discover something!”

On Shopee, I don’t sell food that has passed its best-before date.

But I love the idea of turning:

“What a waste.” → “What a lucky find!” 🍀

I’m still learning.

Seeing, walking, discovering, thinking…

Little by little, I want to create OKAN’S SELECT as a store that makes everyone happy. 🩷

A win for the customer.
A win for the seller.
And a win for society.

I went exploring to discover what people around the world really want to eat. 🌏🔎

Some people are happiest when food is as cheap as possible.

Others are willing to pay more for something incredibly delicious.

Some people love a great deal on food that’s close to its best-before date.

Others want it brand-new, fresh, and perfect. ✨

It’s fun to think about:

What should we sell, and how should we sell it, so that everyone can be happy?

This time, I visited Super Tamade in Nishinari, Osaka 🤣

It’s one of Osaka’s most iconic supermarkets — in a city famous for its bold, colorful personality and amazing food culture.

I loved the handwritten POP signs,
the discounted items,
and especially the signs saying “Gohoushi-hin” (ご奉仕品).

What an interesting Japanese word!

“Gohoushi” means something like “serving others” or “doing something for someone.”

So “Gohoushi-hin” is basically a product offered at a special price as a service to customers.

It feels warmer than simply saying “discounted item.”

Not just:
“Here’s a cheap product.”

But more like:
“We’re offering this at a special price for you.” 😊

Food is not just about products and prices.

It’s about understanding what people value.

And discovering that is so much fun. 🌏✨

I’m going to keep exploring what people around the world want to eat! 🍽️

I’ve taken a few quiet days for myself.

There are always endless things to do when running a Shopee business ♾️
But I’ve also been taking a step back to reflect and ask myself:

“What do I really want to create through exporting from Japan to Southeast Asia?”

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been thinking about organizations and the way society is structured.

Our society often operates through hierarchies—
someone makes the decisions, someone follows, and power and information become concentrated in the hands of a few.

I’ve felt uncomfortable with this structure since I was young.

Growing up in a family business in Sakai, Osaka, and later working as a chef and a secretary at a medical school, I experienced different worlds.

And the same question always remained:

“Is there another way to build society?”

Today, I believe even small businesses can begin to explore that possibility.

Through the internet, we can connect across borders, share products and culture, and build relationships directly with people around the world.

That’s why I don’t want my Southeast Asian export business to be just about selling products.

And I don’t want matcha 🍵 to be just another product.

I want to explore how matcha can become a way to connect people.

From competition to co-creation.
From taking to sharing.
From division to connection.

Instead of competing for what others have,
let’s bring together our knowledge, skills, ideas, and cultures—and create something new together.

I don’t have all the answers yet.

But I want to keep asking:

“What kind of society do I want to create?”

—not just—

“What should I sell?”

Southeast Asian exports and matcha are simply the first steps. 🍵🌏

I’m excited to see what might emerge from here.

KOYASAN was founded by KUKAI (Kobo Daishi), one of Japan’s most respected Buddhist monks.
It is said that even now, he continues meditating in eternal silence at Okunoin, watching over people with compassion 🙏

During this visit, I heard a fascinating story.

Long ago, fires were common on Mount Koya.
To protect the precious Buddhist statues from flames, local miso makers covered tatami mats with miso and buried the statues inside them!

Can you guess why? 👀

Apparently, miso tends to burn only on the surface, helping shield the statues from sparks and heat.
I felt deeply grateful for the wisdom of Japan and the courage of the people who risked everything to protect these sacred treasures.

My grandfather and great-grandmother also rest at Koyasan, so I was very happy to visit and pay my respects.
I hope to return again soon, quietly and alone, to spend more time in prayer.

And special thanks to my friend, a wonderful Koyasan guide, who made this visit so meaningful 🌿

Premium strawberries grown in Nara Prefecture with an average sweetness of 15° Brix 🍓
Nara’s signature strawberry brand,
古都華 (Kotoka)

With their jewel-like glossy red color and rich sweetness, Kotoka strawberries are known for their luxurious flavor.
Their sugar content is said to reach 12–15°, offering a perfect balance of juicy sweetness and gentle acidity✨

Using these beautiful strawberries, I made homemade strawberry ice cream 🍨🍓
It felt refreshing not only for the body, but also for the soul.

I also visited Fudō Myōō for the first time in a while 🙏
I was surprised myself that I hadn’t been able to visit since last year.

Again and again, just when I feel
“I might be reaching my limit…”
some kind of unexpected help appears in my life.

At the end of last fiscal year as well, so many people chose Maha Gold Cream that I somehow managed to keep going.

I truly feel that I am being protected and supported by my ancestors and unseen blessings.

Why does food after a prayer visit feel so deeply comforting and precious? 🍓🍨✨

I went to Mt. Katsuragi today.
The azaleas are in full bloom 🌺

My grandmother used to visit Mt. Katsuragi every year to see these flowers, so being there today felt like I was walking with her again. It made me very happy and emotional.

It’s a holiday in Japan, so I’ll be spending time with my family ❤️

There will be no Tsuyahada Live this Saturday. Thank you for understanding✨

Samurai Secret Superfood 🇯🇵✨
How to get “Tsuyahada” (glowing skin) from the inside

Did you know that even samurai like Tokugawa Ieyasu carried a powerful food with them into battle?

It’s called Tekka Miso.

Made by slowly cooking finely chopped root vegetables—ginger, carrot, burdock, and lotus root—with high-quality miso for hours…
This is not just food. It’s a traditional Japanese beauty ritual you eat.

✨ Why people love it
• Rich, concentrated umami
• Made from simple, natural ingredients
• A small spoon transforms your meal
• Traditionally valued as a nourishing food

💡 Which one should you choose?

👉 Barley Miso (Mugi Miso)
Gentle, slightly sweet, and easy to enjoy
Perfect for beginners & everyday meals

👉 Bean Miso (Mame Miso)
Deep, bold, and intense flavor
For those who love strong, traditional taste

✨ My tip: Start with Barley Miso if it’s your first time!

🌿 The “Tsuyahada” connection

In Japan, we believe beauty starts from within.
Warming ingredients like ginger and root vegetables support a balanced lifestyle and help you feel energized from the inside.

Simple habits. Simple food. Real glow.

💬 Think of it like this:
Bean miso = dark chocolate 🍫 (rich & deep)
Barley miso = honey butter 🍯 (gentle & cozy)

Which one would you try first? 👇
Start your simple beauty habit today.
