ankotopia The School was born to introduce the joy and beauty of making WAGASHI to people from around the world

At the end of July, a wonderful family from Korea joined my WAGASHI Lesson for the very first time! 🇰🇷🌸

Korea has its own beautiful Mochi culture, and this was actually my first time welcoming guests from Korea!

That is exactly why I was so deeply touched that they chose my class to experience Japanese Mochi culture in a home setting.
Thank you so much! 🥹💕

Together we made Nerikiri Watermelon 🍉 and a Mt. Fuji 🗻decorated with Sunflower 🌻,
and everyone did a fantastic job
👏

And we got so lucky with strawberries! 🍓
Finding them at this time of year was a small miracle, and the Strawberry Daifuku was a big hit!

It was their short trip, but Korea is just a two-hour flight away.
Please come back anytime!

And next time I visit Korea, I would love to learn all about your Mochi traditions too. 😊

Thank you for coming ❣️

July online lesson with san 🇺🇸

This month, we made a refreshing

Kingyobachi (Goldfish Bowl)
- 錦玉羹Kanten Jelly 🐠🩵

She requested to use Kai-Jirushi mold she bought during her trip to Japan in April.

With Tokyo and LA both experiencing a heat hot summer ☀️ , this refreshing wagashi was the perfect choice.

We also added a touch of fresh lemon juice for an extra refreshing flavor. 🍋✨

While waiting for the jelly to set, we made Tsukubai Nerikiri with black sesame.

It’s quite easy but beautiful and tasty 😋

The next day, she served them at her tea ceremony class, and I was so happy to hear that everyone loved them. 🍵💕

Thank you again! I can’t wait for our next lesson. 🌸

In the thunder⚡︎ stormy afternoon, a lovely family from the 🇵🇭 Philippine joined my Wagashi lesson! ⛈️💕

They have visited Japan many times, and it was their Mochi-loving daughter who spotted my class on Instagram and brought everyone along.
Thank you 🙏 it makes me so happy! 🥹🌸

They were a little quiet at first, but dad's jokes had everyone laughing by the end! 😄

Together they made Nerikiri Watermelon, Japanese Fan, and Sunflower, and the highlight was cutting the Watermelon with a thread. Everyone was amazed! 🍉🌻✨

Today's filling was my big hit homemade Lemon Anko. 🍋💛 Every piece was enjoyed right there in class with their own Iced Matcha.
Absolutely delicious, they said! 🍵

I also adjusted the lesson timing so they could make it to their teamLab booking in the evening.

I'm always happy to be flexible for my guests! 😊

Thank you so much for coming all the way in such wild weather! 🙏💕

In the stormy morning, an elegant sister and her fashionable brother joined my Wagashi lesson, both big Japan lovers! 🌦️✨

We made
Mandarin Orange and Pineapple Daifuku
Nerikiri Sunflower and Japanese Fan with gold fish🌻🍊🍍

The sweet-tangy fruits paired with the Anko(sweet bean paste) were a big hit!

Today's filling was a seasonal Lemon 🍋 Anko, carefully made the day before, fresh and light, perfect for summer.

My Koshian is also crafted to be gently sweet for the warmer months.
Both are homemade here at ankotopia! 🍋💛

On such a hot and humid day, cold Matcha they made are perfect match with beautiful Wagashi they made🍵

They also left me a wonderful review, and I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart. 🙏💕
Their lovely smiles made my day!

A solo traveler all the way from San Francisco joined my Wagashi lesson ! 🇺🇸🌟

It was her first time in Japan, and she already had a warm love for Japanese culture, having studied origami and more at school.

That gentle and careful touch really came through in her Wagashi! 🌸

She made Pineapple and Kiwi Daifuku, Dango, and a Nerikiri Hydrangea, and every single piece turned out stunningly delicate and beautiful. 🍍🥝🍡✨

I was genuinely amazed!

She’s also a big Ghibli fan and managed to get tickets to the notoriously hard-to-book Ghibli Park, where she’ll be heading after Tokyo with her dad! 🎉
What a trip to remember!

Every lesson here is customized to your requests, so you can make something truly special to you. 💕

Wishing you a magical time at Ghibli Park and a wonderful rest of your Japan adventure! 🌿

Thank you for coming ❣️

Today’s lesson was such a lively and joyful one! ❤️

I had the pleasure of welcoming six cheerful guests—my daughter’s friends from Sweden🇸🇪 and Tokyo 🇯🇵

At the request of these Japan-loving girls, we made Pineapple and Mandarin orange Daifuku, along with two seasonal Nerikiri sweets. 🍍🍊

The room was filled with laughter from beginning to end, making the lesson so much fun for me as well.

Everyone did a fantastic job, and the biggest excitement came when we cut open the mandarin daifuku—everyone cheered! 🤭✨

Once we finished, they couldn’t stop taking photos and videos of their beautiful creations and of each other.

It made me smile to see them enjoying the experience in such a fun, SNS style. 📸💕

Thank you all for coming despite the heavy rain.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip in Japan, and please stay safe with the recent earthquakes. 🇯🇵💕

Thank you for coming ❣️

June online lesson with my student from LA. 🇺🇸

This month, we made
Kashiwa Mochi 🍃 and
Miso-An

Although it is traditionally enjoyed during Children’s Day in May, we decided to make it because she brought back beautiful oak leaves from her recent trip to Japan.

Oak leaves symbolize family prosperity in Japan, as old leaves remain on the tree until new ones appear 🌱

We also made sweet Miso bean paste, a delicious sweet-and-savory filling 😋

She is already quite a Wagashi expert and even makes Miso bean paste on her own!

This time, I shared a few tips for creating an even smoother and richer flavor.

The mochi turned out wonderfully soft, with the refreshing aroma of oak leaves 🍃✨

Next year, let’s make a colorful three-color version together! 🩷💚🤍

Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming a wonderful Wagashi-loving family from LA. 🇺🇸

Although it was their first trip to Japan, the children, who love mochi and matcha joined the lesson with great enthusiasm and curiosity.

To my surprise, even their cat’s name is “Mochi”! 😸

As strawberry season has already ended in Japan, we made fruit daifuku with pineapple and kiwi instead. 🍍🥝

It was also their first time trying white bean paste, and I was so happy to see everyone enjoy it and finish every bite😋

The whole family was so warm and cheerful, and we shared many laughs throughout the lesson.

Thank you for such a fun and memorable time❣️

I hope you enjoy Japan’s beautiful early summer weather and have a wonderful trip.

Looking forward to seeing you again in the online lesson! 😊

Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming a lovely YouTuber from Taiwan to my Nerikiri lesson❤️

After visiting “Hasedera Temple“ in Kamakura yesterday and seeing the beautiful hydrangeas there, we made a hydrangea Nerikiri.

We also made a watermelon Nerikiri 🍉—my first summer design of this Summer season☀️

She took lots of photos and videos during the lesson, so I’m looking forward to seeing her finished vlog! 📸 ✨

Looking forward to coming with your sister next time!
🥰

Thank you for sharing such a lovely time with me❣️
