Tucked within Swissôtel The Stamford, the space at The Stamford Brasserie evokes the charm of a Parisian brasserie - warm, inviting and effortlessly elegant. The atmosphere strikes a balance between sophistication and comfort, making it the kind of place where conversations linger and meals are meant to be savoured.

Highlights include:
🦐Classic Shrimp Cocktail
A refined interpretation of a beloved classic. The shrimp were fresh and succulent, complemented by a silky brandy sauce that added depth without overpowering the natural sweetness of the seafood. Creamy avocado and a vibrant citrus salad brought brightness to the dish, creating a beautifully balanced start that felt both refreshing and indulgent.
🦀Seafood Bisque
Rich and velvety, it carried the unmistakable essence of the sea, enriched with delicate white crabmeat, shrimp and clams.
🥩Steak Au Poivre
The AAA Angus beef tenderloin arrived perfectly cooked, tender and deeply flavourful. The green peppercorn jus lent a gentle warmth and complexity, while the pomme purée was smooth, providing the ideal accompaniment.
🐙Octopus Paccheri Pasta
Generous paccheri pasta carried a rich beef ragout, while capers confit and semi-dried tomatoes introduced subtle bursts of acidity that lifted the dish beautifully. Finished with parmesan, it was hearty without feeling heavy, delivering layers of flavour that unfolded with every bite.
🍯Blackberry Honey Pavlova
Delicate meringue gave way to luscious vanilla chantilly, while mixed berry gelato and blueberry sauce added a vibrant freshness. The interplay of crisp, creamy and fruity elements made each mouthful feel light yet deeply satisfying.
🥐Warm Pear with Lemon Croissant
The buttery croissant and rich frangipane created a comforting foundation for the sweet compressed pear, while the confit lemon pear sauce introduced a subtle citrus brightness. Paired with an oolong pear sorbet, the dessert achieved a beautiful balance of warmth and freshness, ending the meal with understated elegance.

If you’re after a Japanese dining experience that feels both refined and unpretentious, Robata AKARI Singapore is one of those places that quietly impresses. Tucked away in Duxton Hill, the restaurant centres around traditional robatayaki - where premium ingredients are slowly grilled over charcoal, allowing their natural flavours to shine.

What stood out most for me was how every dish felt thoughtfully executed. Instead of relying on heavy seasoning or elaborate presentation, the focus is firmly on quality ingredients and precise ex*****on. The charcoal grilling imparts a gentle smokiness that elevates everything from seafood to vegetables without overwhelming them. The robata-grilled fish, especially the nodoguro and black cod, showcased beautifully crisp skin while remaining moist and delicate within. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh, with clean flavours that spoke for themselves. Even seemingly simple items like the grilled red eggplant and seasonal vegetables were memorable, highlighting the kitchen’s confidence in letting quality produce take centre stage.

Beyond the food, there’s an understated warmth to the experience. Watching the chefs work over the charcoal grill adds a sense of theatre, yet the atmosphere remains relaxed and welcoming. It feels equally suited for a special occasion or a leisurely evening with friends over sake and grilled skewers.

Robata AKARI isn’t the kind of restaurant that chases trends or gimmicks. Instead, it excels by staying true to the fundamentals of quality ingredients, skilled grilling and genuine Japanese hospitality. For anyone who appreciates the beauty of simplicity done exceptionally well, this is a spot well worth returning to.

Instead of going down the traditional quiet-and-minimalist route, this new concept by the Les Amis Group leans heavily into drama.

The star of the show is undoubtedly their towering A5 Wagyu “Mountain” Sukiyaki, where beautifully marbled beef is stacked high over vegetables, tofu, mushrooms and noodles, slowly melting into the bubbling broth as it cooks.

The signature spicy tomato broth is sweet, savoury and slightly tangy. Personally, I found the broth a little on the sweeter side, but adding some chilli padi helped balance the flavours and cut through the richness nicely. We enjoyed ending the meal with the risotto, which soaked up all the flavours of the broth.

While it may not be the most traditional sukiyaki experience, SukiyakiJIN delivers a fun, satisfying meal that’s best enjoyed with good company and an appetite for something hearty.

If you’re a fan of bold flavours, smoky aromas and generous sharing plates, Meatsmith’s Fire Feast delivers exactly what its name promises. Nestled along Telok Ayer, the smokehouse is known for its custom-built Southern Pride smokers and wood-fire grills, bringing together the best of American barbecue with a lively, communal dining experience.

What stood out most for me was how every dish carried that unmistakable kiss of fire. The meats arrived beautifully charred on the outside while remaining juicy and tender within, showcasing the low-and-slow smoking techniques that Meatsmith is known for. From smoky brisket and melt-in-your-mouth beef short ribs to succulent pork ribs and flavour-packed sausages, every bite felt hearty and deeply satisfying. Their signature platters are especially impressive, offering a little bit of everything for the table to share.

Beyond the meats, the sides such as the accompanying sauces and pickles added just the right amount of balance to cut through the richness.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about gathering around a table piled high with smoky meats, passing plates around and digging in with friends. It’s indulgent, unapologetically meaty, and exactly the kind of feast that turns a meal into an occasion.

Few dining destinations capture the energy of Singapore quite like SUSHISAMBA Singapore, where stunning skyline views meet a bold celebration of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian flavours. The refreshed à la carte menu builds on that energy, bringing back guest favourites while introducing new creations that showcase the bold, vibrant flavours SUSHISAMBA is known for.

🍣Crispy Salmon
Wrapped in a tempura nori roll and layered with semi-cooked salmon, cream cheese and aji amarillo, it strikes a satisfying balance between richness and freshness. The crunch of the tempura shell gives way to buttery salmon, while the gentle heat from the aji amarillo keeps every bite interesting.
🍣Uni & Tuna
Served atop crispy nigiri rice, the combination of velvety Hokkaido uni and fresh tuna creates an irresistible contrast of textures. The crisp rice provides a satisfying crunch, while the uni delivers its signature ocean-sweet creaminess. Finished with smoked roe, it is a small bite packed with layers of flavour and one that uni lovers should not miss.
🐟Seafood Seviche
Featuring scallop, prawn, octopus and calamari bathed in a vibrant pineapple tiger’s milk, the dish bursts with citrusy freshness. The sweetness of the pineapple lifts the seafood beautifully, while the varied textures keep every spoonful exciting.
🐟Chargrilled Sea Bass
Grilled over charcoal until the skin achieved a delicate crispness, the fish remained wonderfully moist and flaky within. The red pepper aji amarillo sauce added a smoky sweetness with just enough heat to complement the natural flavour of the sea bass rather than overpower it.
🍰Tres Leche Cake
Light yet decadent, the vanilla sponge soaked up the rich milk mixture beautifully without becoming overly dense. The candied orange added a fragrant citrus lift, while the pistachio ice cream brought a nutty creaminess that tied everything together.

If there’s one buffet that does seafood exceptionally well, it’s Beach Road Kitchen at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. But from now till 30 June 2026, they’ve taken things up a notch with A Culinary Voyage to Chengdu - a limited-time Sichuan showcase led by Executive Chinese Chef Mike Li from The St. Regis Chengdu.

What I loved most is that this isn’t just about piling on chilli for the sake of heat. The dishes showcase the different layers of Sichuan cuisine beautifully - from the fragrant warmth of Xiang La to the addictive numbing kick of Ma La and the sharp peppery notes of Hu La. Every dish felt bold yet balanced, allowing the flavours to shine without overwhelming the palate.

The buffet spread was packed with standouts, such as the Chilled Chicken in Chilli Oil, which was refreshing yet fiery, while the Kung Pao Shrimp delivered that perfect sweet-spicy crunch. A must-try is the Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles, which were wonderfully slurp-worthy with a rich, nutty sauce and just the right amount of spice.

One of the highlights was moving between the Sichuan stations and Beach Road Kitchen’s famous temperature-controlled Cold Seafood Room, loaded with fresh seafood on ice. For this special promotion, the seafood is paired with a range of artisanal Sichuan dipping sauces, adding a unique twist to fresh oysters, prawns and shellfish. The combination of sweet seafood and bold Sichuan flavours worked surprisingly well.

Even with all the premium seafood available, the Sichuan dishes managed to hold their own and genuinely felt like the stars of the show.

The dessert stayed true to the Sichuan theme. The Mala Choux Puff was a fun and unexpected creation, offering a subtle spicy kick alongside its creamy filling. Meanwhile, the Sichuan Spiced Soft Chocolate delivered a rich, indulgent finish with a gentle warmth that lingered after each bite.

Fourteen years in, and Tiong Bahru Bakery is proving that it’s far more than just the place you go for a reliable croissant. With its latest lineup of pastries and drinks, the homegrown bakery is leaning deeper into Asian-inspired flavours while still keeping that unmistakable French pastry DNA that made it a household name in Singapore.

🖤Black Sesame Choux
Inspired by the comforting flavours of black sesame tangyuan, it comes packed with nutty black sesame richness, but the airy choux pastry keeps it from feeling too heavy. The contrast between the creamy filling, charcoal crumble, and crisp sesame tuile adds just enough texture to make every bite interesting.

🍑Peach Oolong Entremet
It’s delicate and elegant, with fragrant oolong notes layered against a bright peach centre. The flavours are subtle rather than overpowering, making it the kind of dessert that feels light enough even after a full meal.

💚Matcha Basque Cheesecake
Unlike many matcha desserts that go all in on bitterness, this one strikes a nice balance. The creamy cheesecake base softens the earthy matcha notes, while the signature burnt Basque edges add a touch of depth and character.

💚Pistachio Bombe
Pistachio fans are in for a treat, with layers of pistachio chantilly, ganache and praline beneath a glossy white chocolate glaze. It’s rich without being cloying, and every component delivers that deep roasted pistachio flavour.

💜Bergamot Lavender Tart
Designed like a spring daisy, it balances fragrant lavender ganache with a citrusy bergamot crémeux, all housed within a vanilla tart shell.

🤎Mont Blanc
A more classic European profile but with TBB’s modern touch. Layers of chestnut cream, berry confit, vanilla chantilly, and candied chestnuts come together beautifully, delivering richness without becoming overly sweet.

Beyond the food, the newly refreshed Raffles City outlet gives the brand a fresh energy. The self-selection pastry concept makes the experience feel more casual and intuitive, whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee before work or settling in for a leisurely afternoon catch-up.
