Landscape gardener : Eietsu Yokoyama
Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1952. After graduating from high school, he began his career as a landscape gardener, studying under Saichi Kojima V, a representative gardener of the Showa period who worked at the Kyoto Imperial Palace, Katsura Imperial Villa and Shugakuin Imperial Villa in Kyoto, and worked on numerous famous gardens and projects for the Imperial Household Agency. Under Saichi, he was involved in the creation of the Adachi Museum of Art, which was awarded the prize for the best garden in Japan, from its early stages to its completion, and interacted with Adachi Zenyasu. Became Saichi's last apprentice. He later returned to his homeland and set up his own business. In recent years, he has been involved in the basic design of the garden commemorating the reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake. He has given many lectures abroad, including in Portland and London, in order to train younger generations and to convey the value of Japanese gardens.
