This is a hybrid sorghum doing very well in the ASAL region in North Eastern parts of the country.

It is an excellent source of energy for animals and it's best planted at the onset of rain or through irrigation.

The grass is highly palatable, is fast growing and it is a multi cut variety which ensures optimal harvest of three cuts within a year.

The grass is also suitable for conservation as silage on its own or when harvested with other fodders like corn or napier grass or as part of haylage.

Get the special aseptic silage bags for your fodder and forages conservation.

Each of this bag packs approximately 100 kgs of silage which means that a farmer will use one bag to feed his three to four cows per day at a feed out rate of about 25 kgs per day for a mature cow.

They contain three layers essential in providing an airtight environment for optimal fermentation and hence top quality silage which directly contributes to general animals health and increased body weight gain and milk production.

The bags are reusable for several cycles and utmost care should be taken to ensure they are handled well during silage making and when stored. After emptying the silage, neatly fold the bag and keep it under the shade.

Many thanks to Citizen TV Kenya for featuring our farm and the growing Trichanthera Gigantae fodder tree now for the first time in Kenya.

Among the many benefits of this tree is that;

1. The leaves of the tree contains crude protein content of 25-30%

2. The tree has medicinal values and is used in the prevention of placenta retention after birth for livestock which is a major challenge in Kenya.

3. Trichanthera tree is a lactogenic tree and this helps in stimulation of milk production upon ingestion by livestock and in some communities, nursing mothers blend the leaves with other fruits and vegetables as a delicacy.

4. It grows in both temperate and asal regions and you'll only have to plant with manure and it'll grow very well and it's also a hardy tree.

Super napier Pakchong 1 grass field in Murang'a county. Glad to have introduced this grass to this farm for the demo establishment ahead of full commercialisation for feeding dairy cows.

We are looking forward to this interesting partnership and we truly thank the farm for taking the bold step in securing their future through a grass which will provide them over 200 tons of fresh biomass yearly and 16-18% CP and energy 9 MJ/kg.

Fodder conservation and sustainable livestock production.

We have finalised in the preparation of 1 acre yellow maize silage in Nakuru for one of our clients.

Our consultancy services included team mobilisation for the work, cuttings of the maize and piling it up, chopping services, fortification of the silage and packaging.

For the packaging we used aseptic bags which guarantee safe and quality silage storage for up to 2 years period. Each bag carried a total of 150 kgs and we filled up 150 bags effectively getting over 22 tons. The farmer will be able to feed 50 dorper sheep for a period of 5-6 months.

As part of our services, we are now open to helping our clients conserve their fodders for sustainable livestock production.
