HOW TO KEEP YOUR CHICKENS SAFE FROM HEAD AND BREATHING DISEASES
1. CLEAN THE COOP REGULARLY
- Sweep out droppings, blood, and waste every morning and evening
- Use disinfectants to kill germs and stop disease from spreading
2. LIMIT VISITORS TO THE POULTRY AREA
- Too many people around chickens can bring infections
- Anyone entering should wear clean shoes or special footwear
3. FOLLOW THE VACCINATION SCHEDULE
- Newcastle disease: vaccinate at 1–7 days old
- Gumboro disease: vaccinate at 10–14 days old
- Infectious bronchitis: follow your vet’s advice
4. ENSURE PROPER VENTILATION
- Let fresh air in to remove harmful gases and bacteria
- A well-aerated coop helps chickens breathe easily
5. KEEP AWAY SMOKE AND STRONG FUMES
- Smoke from firewood, ci******es, or chemicals can harm chickens’ throats and noses
6. ADD NATURAL BOOSTERS TO DRINKING WATER
- Garlic, ginger, aloe vera, and apple cider vinegar help strengthen the respiratory system
7. MANAGE WEATHER CONDITIONS
- Protect chickens from extreme heat or cold to reduce stress and breathing issues
8. CONTROL PESTS AND DUST
- Mites and dust can spread diseases that affect the head and breathing
NOTE
If your chickens are coughing or have runny noses, treat them quickly by adding Tylodox, Tylosin, or Oxytetracycline to their water.
