Can we talk about the Meruโ€“Kianjaiโ€“Maua matatus? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ
First of all, these matatus have one special talent: they never get full.
I repeat... they never get full.!!
You can look inside and see people seated, others squeezed, with sambazas at the middle, na watu wengine wamebendover Kwa mlango trying to create space that doesn't even exist ... but the conductor is still outside shouting:
"Maua! Maua! Kianjai! One more! Kuna nafasi!" ๐Ÿ˜‚and you wonder kwani yeye mwenyewe atakaa wapi amaatatufuata nyuma na nduthi๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซด๐Ÿค”
At this point I genuinely want to know: how many people was that Nissan matatu designed to carry? Because sometimes passengers are arranged like sacks of potatoes. ๐Ÿ˜ญ
And then comes the speeding.
These drivers drive as if they are participating in the Meru Formula One Championship. One matatu overtakes another, the driver is fully focused, and then you hear:
Aty, "sitaki ifike Kianjai mbele yetu!"๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
Excuse me, sir... are there passengers waiting ahead with your names written on them? How are you so sure they are there? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ
The competition on that route is on another level. Every vehicle wants to be first, yet the passengers are just seated there praying and holding onto their seats for dear life. ๐Ÿ˜…
But on a serious note, this is a humble call to matatu drivers and makangas on the Meruโ€“Kianjaiโ€“Maua route: please avoid overloading and unnecessary competition on the road. Safety should always come first because every passenger wants to arrive home safely.
Abiria si viazi za kupangwa kwa gari, jameni. Tuache tamaa kidogo. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™nkt!!

Weuh... ๐Ÿ˜ญ This life will introduce you to all kinds of people with all kinds of personalities.
So every evening I usually go to a certain Catholic sisters' school to pick milk. There's this lady (I think she's the matron) who normally answers the bell, and she's always okay.
Today she wasn't around.
I rang the bell, and a sister peeped through the door. She was holding a mop, so I thought, "Maybe she's just putting it aside, then she'll come open."
Aki... this sister looked at me and walked away. ๐Ÿ˜
Now here's the thing... this wasn't even my first time there. She knows me, she knows I usually come for milk, and the milk was already there. It's not like she was wondering who I was or what I wanted.
I waited.
She passed by again.
Looked.
Walked away.
Passed a third time.
Looked again.
Walked away... while I'm still standing outside like I've suddenly become part of the compound decorations. ๐Ÿซฅ๐Ÿ˜‚
At that point I had waited almost 10 minutes. My patience packed its bags and left. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ So I decided to be just a little petty... I pressed that bell continuously. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Luckily, the matron heard it all the way from the farm and came to open the gate herself.
Now tell me... what happened to simple courtesy? If you've seen someone at the door, you know exactly why they're there, and what they came for is already available, why make them stand outside like they're invisible? It costs absolutely nothing to say, "Please wait," or "Someone else will attend to you."
Anyway... I got my milk. ๐Ÿฅ› But some people's manners really need a serious update nkt!!

# # when will a girl be allowed to just be a person # #

The other day I heard someone tell a little girl who was sitting carelessly,
"Hivyo ndivyo utakaa kwa bwanako?"
kidogo mwingine hapa ameskia nilisema sijui kupepeta (winnow )cereals, and immediately she responded,
"Huwezi kwenda kwa watu ukisema hujui kufanya hiki ama kile. Jifunze kila kitu, wasije wakakuambia urudi kwenu ukafunzwe kazi."
And I couldn't help but wonder: why is everything in a girl's life connected to marriage?
Why can't a girl learn a skill because it is useful for her own life? Why must every lesson end with a warning about a future husband or in-laws?
Yes, learning life skills is important. Everyone, whether male or female, should know how to take care of themselves. But there is a difference between teaching and conditioning.
Teach girls to cook because food is necessary for survival, not because a husband is waiting somewhere with a report card.
Teach girls responsibility because it builds character, not because they are preparing to be accepted in someone's home.
Teach girls independence because they deserve to stand on their own feet, not because they are future wives.
A woman is not a training project for someone's son.
She is a complete human being with dreams, ambitions, talents, strengths, weaknesses, and the freedom to decide how she wants to live her life.
Not every road leads to a husband's house. Some roads lead to universities, businesses, careers, leadership, innovation, and personal fulfillment.
A girl's life should not be centered around men she hasn't even met.
Teach girls how to live, not how to spend their entire lives preparing for marriage.

Long ago in the cool green hills of Meru, girls were raised not only to be beautiful, but to be strong, respectful, and proud of their roots.
An Ameru lady carried herself with grace, adorned in beads that spoke of identity, culture, and dignity. The calabash in her hands was never just a vessel โ€” it symbolized hospitality, unity, and the warmth of home.
Even today, the spirit of the Ameru woman lives on: smiling through hardship, preserving traditions, and reminding the world that culture is a treasure, not a memory.โ€** ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸคŽโœจ
