Listen to that video. 👂🏿
As you can see through the video, it isn't at night.
There isn't a storm.
That's just the everyday wind at JM Ranch right now.
The gusts you're hearing have been sweeping in from the coastal regions, and according to the Kenya Meteorological Department, our region has been on the "strong winds" advisory list week after week this season (25 knots and above).
Those winds:
🌪️ lift topsoil off the ground and carry it away,
🌾 dry out young pasture before it can establish,
💧 evaporate every drop of moisture the land manages to hold onto,
They're a slow, quiet form of erosion and they're only getting more forceful as El Nino approaches.
This is exactly why the seed balls from SeedballsKenya matter.
Every Acacia tortilis we plant today is a future windbreaker.
A future canopy.
A future anchor holding the topsoil down.
This is a long-term vision, the same long-term stance that SeedballsKenya Kenya has taken toward:
climate change,
protecting Kenyan forestry,
and greening the parts of this country that have been quietly turning to dust.
We're proud to be planting alongside their movement. 🙏
