That featherless-looking chicken is not a science experiment. It is called a Naked Neck chicken, and some people also call it a Turken. Its bare neck is caused by a natural dominant gene, so it is born this way and not made this way. The empty neck helps the bird lose body heat more easily. That means Naked Neck chickens can stay cooler in hot and humid weather than fully feathered chickens. This is why they are especially good for tropical and subtropical places where the weather can be very warm. Studies have also shown that Naked Neck chickens can handle heat stress better. In some hot-climate tests, they showed better growth, better feed efficiency, and stronger productivity than normal-feathered chickens. That is why farmers in warm regions often pay close attention to this special bird.

FEATHER LOSS DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN DISEASE — YOUR CHICKENS MAY BE MOLTING

Many farmers panic when they see feathers all over the coop, reduced egg production, or hens looking weak and rough. But in many cases, this is a natural process called molting.

Molting is when chickens shed old feathers and grow new ones. During this period, the bird redirects nutrients from egg production into growing fresh feathers. That’s why egg production usually drops or stops temporarily.

Common signs of molting: • Feather loss around the neck, back, and tail
• Reduced egg production
• Pale comb and wattles
• Increased feed intake
• Birds appearing tired or stressed

Molting commonly happens: • In older hens (18 months and above)
• During cold seasons or stressful conditions
• After changes in lighting, feeding, or environment

How to help your birds recover faster: • Increase protein in feed (16–18%)
• Ensure constant clean water
• Reduce stress and overcrowding
• Maintain cleanliness and ventilation
• Add vitamins and mineral supplements

A well-managed molting bird usually returns stronger, healthier, and more productive.

At Kuku Bora Hatchery, we believe healthy birds build profitable farms.

Most people look at an egg and only see breakfast.
Few people look at an egg and see wealth, nutrition, discipline, and the future.

An egg is one of the most complete foods God gave man. Inside that shell is protein, vitamins, healthy fats, and life itself. It feeds children, strengthens workers, supports students, and gives energy to families every single day.

But beyond food, an egg teaches powerful lessons.

It teaches patience.
Before a chick appears, there is incubation, waiting, and consistency.

It teaches protection.
The shell may look fragile, but it guards something valuable.

It teaches potential.
What looks small in your hand can become something bigger than you imagined.

It teaches multiplication.
One hen can lay many eggs. One decision can change a family. One small start can become a farm, a business, or a legacy.

Many people are praying for miracles while ignoring the eggs already in their hands.

Never despise small beginnings.
Some people laugh at poultry until school fees are paid by it.
Some people mock farming until rent is cleared by it.
Some people overlook eggs until hunger knocks.

The truth is simple: nations grow when they respect production.

Today, when you hold an egg, remember this:
Not everything valuable shines like gold.
Some wealth comes quietly in a shell.

How many eggs do you eat in a week? And did you know an egg can be a symbol of success? Share your thoughts...
