Grapefruit Immune Boosting Smoothie

Tart grapefruit helps ward off the common cold, improves liver function, and yes, helps with weight loss. The fruit’s enzymes give the liver a big assist by helping it break down toxins more efficiently. Look for red and pink grapefruits, which contain lycopene as well as higher amounts of antioxidants.

1 grapefruit peeled, cut into slices
1/2 cup yogurt
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1 banana 🍌
1/2 inch ginger piece peeled an grated
1/4 cup purified water
1/2 medium beet peeled and cubed

Add all the ingredients (except the beet) into a blender and process to obtain a smooth liquid.
Divide half of the amount into serving glasses.
Add the beet cubes and process to obtain an intense pink liquid.
Top the serving glasses with the beet layer and serve.

1. Never store Onions and Potatoes in the same place because both produce a gas that causes either of them to spoil quickly.keep them separate.

2. Put two or three orange leaves in your hot cooking oil on the stove. Let the leaves turn black before removing them. By then your cooking oil becomes aromatic also giving your food a nice taste.

3. To avoid feeling a burning sensation on your hands after cutting pepper with bare hand scrub your hand with salt and red oil then wash it.

4. If you happen to over salt a pot of soup, just drop in a peeled potato. The potato will absorb the excess salt.

5. If your Soup or Stew goes sour while warming it, add little piece of Charcoal and remove after warming, the taste will come back.

6. Never put citrus fruits (oranges, lemon, lime, etc) or tomatoes in the fridge. The low temperature degrades the aroma and flavor of these fruits.

7. When storing empty airtight containers, throw in a pinch of salt to keep them from getting stinky.

8. If your salt is becoming lumpy, put a few grains of rice in with it to absorb excess moisture.

9. To reuse cooking oil without tasting whatever was cooked in the oil previously, cook a 1/4" piece of ginger in the oil. It will remove any remaining flavors and odors.

10. When cooking beans put a whole unpeeled potato or a carrot in the pot it helps in drawing excess gas.

There are certain Sauces that you should always have on hand for use during and after cooking. Whether you use store-bought products or make your own, here are 10 Sauces you should always have and how to use them in dishes.

1. Ketchup
You can buy a bottle of organic ketchup or you can make your own. You can jazz it up with spices to take plain ketchup and turn it into something exotic like jerk-, cumin-, or curry-flavored ketchup. Serve it alongside your burgers and fries like these Raw Yam Burgers and Daikon Fries and Ketchup Baked Home Fries. But ketchup is also a handy condiment to add inside of your recipes. Besides a tomato-y taste, it also adds umami, a salty, savory flavor that is associated with satisfaction.

2. Mustard
Mustard is one of my favorite condiments. I love the spicy taste and Dijon mustard, in particular, is delicious. It’s my choice of condiment for hot dogs, sausages and many sandwiches. It’s a key ingredient in many salad dressings too. Another way to use mustard is to mix it with lemon juice and maple syrup to make a sauce or glaze for vegetable recipes.

3. Mayonnaise
Mayo is my favorite condiment. I love dipping fries in it especially when mixed with Ketchup and hot sauce which we'll get to eat later. There are several brands of vegan and non veg Mayo available or you can make your own just turn to youtube for guidance. Since mayo itself is bland, it’s a perfect blank canvas for so many flavors like Sriracha and chimmichurri. Adding spices makes mayo the perfect dipping sauce.

4. Soy Sauce
Soy sauce and its thicker, richer cousin tamari, are probably the most versatile condiment you can have in your pantry. Besides adding it to already cooked food, soy sauce is integral to so many recipes, sauces, and marinades. Use it to make Garlic Sauce, Sweet and Sour Sauce, saute sauces, and hoisin sauce. Soy sauce is good for more than just Chinese food; letting tofu sit in a mixture of soy sauce and water is enough to impart great flavor in food.

5. Tahini
Tahini is roasted sesame seeds ground into a smooth butter and it’s super-easy to make Homemade Tahini. Some people like to eat it straight but it’s also delicious mixed into recipes for hummus, salad dressings, dips and stews

6. Hot Sauce
Hot sauce is one condiment I wouldn’t want to live without. Luckily, it’s easy to make your own; Not only does it give great flavor and spice to dishes but you can use hot sauce to create other delicious sauces like Chinese BBQ Sauce, Fish Sauce, and Spicy Cheese Sauce. Of course, the most important thing you can make with hot sauce is Buffalo sauce. Once you have that, you can make these Buffalo Tofu Fries, Buffalo Tempeh Meatballs, Buffalo Roasted Chickpeas, Grilled Buffalo Tofu Po’ Boys, and Roasted Buffalo Cauliflower Bites. Hot sauce is essential any time you want to add a little kick to your food.

7. BBQ Sauce
Making your own BBQ sauce is so easy, there’s no reason to ever buy it. The basic recipe involves combining a tomato base, an acid, a sweetener, and spices. Knowing the basic formula lets you mix and match ingredients to create new and exciting BBQ sauces. You can adjust the amounts of the ingredients if you prefer your BBQ sauce more tomato-y, more vinegar-y, sweeter, or spicier. My Basic BBQ Sauce recipe is a bit more sweet than spicy, and I add some orange juice for a bright fruity note. In a saucepan, combine 2 cups ketchup, 1 ¼ cup apple cider vinegar, ¾ cup honey, the zest and juice of ½ orange, 3 minced garlic cloves and 1 tsp. black pepper. Stir and heat over medium heat until it comes to a bubble. Lower the heat and let simmer for 30 minutes until it thickens. Once you have BBQ sauce, you can use it as a base to make Hoisin sauce, Spicy Balsamic BBQ Sauce, or something exotic like Hawaiian or Cajun BBQ sauce. Then use it in recipes like these Pineapple Jack BBQ Sandwiches, Hoisin Black Bean Burgers, Balsamic BBQ Seitan or Tempeh Ribs, Vegan BBQ Lentil Meatball Sandwich, or Vegan BBQ Tofu Wings.

8. Sour Cream
sour cream is another blank canvas just begging to be painted on. It can be the base for making your own Tzatziki Sauce: to one cup of sour cream, I add ½ of a large chopped cucumber, one clove of minced or grated garlic, the juice of half a lemon, a bit of olive oil and 1-2 tsp. of chopped dill. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Tzatziki sauce is the condiment of choice for falafel and chickpea burgers. Make this Chutney Sour Cream to have with Sweet Potato Latkes or these Sour Cream and Onion Kale Chips.

9. Worcestershire Sauce
Worcestershire sauce has so many flavors and spices, it adds depth to so many recipes. Made with ingredients such as tamari, mushrooms and tamarind, it adds that salty, savory umami flavor that makes food irresistible

10.) Chutney
Although chutney is best known as a condiment originating in India, the concept has spread worldwide and transformed to suit local tastes. The term chutney comes from the East Indian chatni, meaning "strongly spiced," and refers to a condiment which usually consists of a mix of chopped fruits, vinegar, spices, and sugar cooked into a chunky spread. Most chutneys are on the spicy side, but it's easy to adjust the heat factor if you make your own.

When you’re trying to stock a home kitchen, the options available at your local supermarket or specialty store can be overwhelming. One of the areas that is especially well-stocked is the spice department.

There can be hundreds of different spices and spice blends available in many stores. So, how do you decide what you need in your home?

While everyone has different tastes, I have put together a list of ten spices you will certainly want to consider keeping around.

1.) Black Pepper
As the counterpoint to the always-prevalent salt, black pepper is a flavorful spice that tastes good on most savory dishes in small doses. There are certain recipes, such as lemon-pepper pasta or fried chicken that can benefit from a healthier dash.

2.) Garlic Powder
Even if you choose to use fresh garlic on a regular basis, having garlic powder around can be beneficial too. It’s a great way to add some quick garlic flavor to a dish or you can use it to mix into your own spice blends.

3.) Thyme
Thyme is woodsy, lemony and mild. It is most often used as a flavor for meats and stews, but it can add some zing to vegetables as well.

4.) Cinnamon
While Cinnamon is probably best known as an additive to sweet dishes or on your morning toast, this spice can be an excellent addition to certain savory dishes as well. Use it in very small doses in chili, tomato sauces and other products.

5. Oregano
Nothing says Italian quite like Oregano does. A little dried oregano will give your tomato sauce a real Italian vibe. It can also be a pungent add in for Greek and Mexican dishes.

6.) Rosemary
Dried Rosemary is a must for French and Mediterranean cooking. It is earthy, woodsy and piney. Rosemary can be an acquired taste for some, but it does give your dishes a one-of-a-kind flavor that helps them stand out from the crowd.

7.) Cayenne Pepper
Another form of pepper, cayenne pepper has a definite kick. This spice is a great way to add heat to any dish. Whether you’re making your famous chili or buffalo wings, cayenne pepper lets you get the heat you desire.

8.) Cumin
Cumin has a smoky, earthy taste. You’ll find this flavor is great for many ethnic dishes including Indian, African and South American. A gentle touch of cumin can add spice and flavor to unexpected dishes like eggs or grilled meats too.

9.) Nutmeg
Nutmeg works well in both sweet and savory dishes. It is a must for bechamel sauces and other cheese dishes. However, you’ll probably use it most often in sweet treats that contain cinnamon as well.

10.) Paprika
While fairly tame compared to other pepper-based spices, paprika adds warmth and earthiness to a dish. You’ll find that there are many different versions, some with a smokier or “hotter” flavor than others.

While these are the ten “musts” for your spice cabinet, remember--this is only the beginning. Don’t be afraid to slowly expand your spice collection and add more flavors so you can enhance the overall taste and profile of everything you cook.

Plus, keep in mind that many spices offer additional benefits too. As Charlemagne was famed for saying:

“𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 {𝘢𝘳𝘦} 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴.”

Products That Invigorate as Good as Coffee ☕

Not everyone likes coffee. For some people, it’s even forbidden to drink it. Here are the products that you can use instead if you want to feel more cheerful.

🍏 Apples

This fruit, among other beneficial properties, can help you get rid of fatigue and sleepiness. One apple contains 13 grams of sugar and fast carbohydrates that help your brain wake up and get back to work faster.

🍫 Chocolate

Cocoa, in particular, chocolate, invigorates as well as coffee even in small doses. It’s better to eat dark chocolate as it will give you an energy boost and it doesn’t contain much sugar.

The aroma of citrus has been proven to invigorate the body. In addition, these fruits are rich in vitamin C, which also gives the body lots of energy.

🍯 Honey

Honey contains natural sugar. Our body wakes up while processing. And it has a much longer effect that coffee does.

Save the post if you are planning to change your coffee routine to some alternative ☕

5 Healthy Eating Habits🥗

Healthy eating is the base of a healthy life. Here are 5 tips that will help you eat healthier.

🍳 Don’t ignore breakfast

A morning meal will help you control your hunger all day, speed up your metabolism, and prevent stress. Plus, it’s a great energy boost.

⏰ Don’t hurry when eating

Firstly, the process of digestion begins already in the mouth, which means that the further digestion process depends on how well you chew the food. Secondly, fast food intake leads to overeating.

🚶🏻Go for a walk after eating

This will improve the process of digesting, and oxygen, which actively fills the cells of the whole body during walks, will accelerate the breakdown of fats and prevent you from gaining weight.

👨‍🍳 Cook by yourself

We rarely cook nowadays. It’s easier to buy already prepared food or to order something from the cafes. But if you dive into the process of cooking, your food will be much healthier and even cheaper. So you’d better consider this option.

🥑 Bring avocado to your home

Despite its high-calorie content, avocados do not contain sugar and unhealthy fats. That is why this fruit is included in any diet menu. It goes well with many products and is widely used in salads, snacks, and sandwiches.

Follow those rules and stay healthy💪🏻

How much water do we need to drink per day?

We all know about this “8 glasses of water a day” rule. But it’s not completely true.

According, to the WHO, the adequate daily fluids rates are:

💧Approximately 3.7 L for men
💧Approximately 2.7 L for women

It is estimated that 80% of this amount we receive with any drinks, including milk, fruit juices, tea and coffee, and 20% from solid foods (vegetables or fruits). So if you are not thirsty, you don’t have to drink a lot of water just because you were told to.

Anyway, if you think that you want to drink more than your common daily water dose, you need to consult your doctor.
