Essaouira is ridiculously photogenic. You have to force yourself to absorb the beauty and serenity through your own eyes, not your phone. Luckily Luke brought his ‘proper’ camera for this trip.
It’s also a treat for eating out. Chargrilled John Dory at the stalls in the port. A very good dinner . And a fun Italian .
We can’t stay away!

A busy Sunday morning in the Field Kitchen test kitchen. A first go at a basque cheesecake; a creamy cheesy crunchy yummy roast vegetable lasagne ; 2 leek quiches with contrasting flours for the pastry - one from and the other a Moroccan flour. Let’s see which one wins.
Colder nights are taking us towards comfort food - can’t wait to try them all next to the log fire.🔥

What a joy it was to receive this lovely feedback from a client recently. We were working on location outside Marrakech in a semi-ruined kasbah, feeding a team of 35 people — the brand team, the photography team, the models and their entourage — over two days.
Catering on fashion shoots, feeding people who are working hard and usually in a foreign country, is incredibly rewarding in its own right. But even more so when the production company gives us feedback like this!

Early starts for a long day’s shoot can be tough on everyone, so a good breakfast can make all the difference, especially when it’s healthy and nourishing. Our breakfasts offer an alternative to the slightly bread-heavy Moroccan breakfast usually on offer here. Freshly made smoothies, smashed avocado with feta, and hummus with roasted tomatoes are not only delicious but also nutritious.

Lunch is more than a pause in the day. It’s a chance to sit back, reflect on how things are going, and look ahead to what’s left to do. When the team is fed well, they feel loved and looked after — even more so when they know the food will give them the energy they need for the afternoon ahead. Dishes containing pulses and whole grains, along with the abundance of fresh vegetables and fruit available here in Morocco, deliver exactly what their demanding day requires.

We also love the interaction with the teams we serve. We speak their language — having both worked in marketing or catering throughout our careers — and we can empathise with the kind of day they’re having.

What’s the nicest feedback you’ve ever received?

Last night was a first for Field Kitchen — we not only catered but also hosted a supper party for BBAM members, raising funds for our partner charities, EFA and Pikala Bikes.

The evening kicked off with Luke’s spicy pumpkin soup, made extra irresistible with an outrageous amount of melted butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Then came the chilli con carne (declared “the best ever” by our Texan guest 🤠), spicy beans, spicy chips, guacamole, and tomato salsa — before rounding off with Caroline’s sticky toffee pudding.

And the surprise hit of the night? The soup stole the show!

We raised 2,000 dh for our charities and had such a joyful, evening with the BBAM crew.

A super simple supper - swimming pool not necessary for enjoyment but it can help!

This was our first visit to Casablanca for 20 years and what a change! It’s a vibrant, busy, hectic self assured metropolis and we loved it. The white buildings
and fresh sea air are such a contrast to Marrakech (which of course remains our first love).
The powerful beauty of the Hassan II mosque is incredibly moving - on a par with the great cathedrals of the world.
The reason for our visit was to attend the monthly networking event at the British Consulate. We met so many interesting people, proving to us once again that Morocco is a country that is developing at pace, in the right direction and is an incredibly exciting country to be living in right now.
And of course eating out was an important feature. Lunch at La Taverne du Dauphin was a thoroughly traditional franco- Moroccan affaire. This place is an institution in Casablanca offering seafood at its very best.

Chilled Coconut Squash Soup – your new summer obsession. Roasted potiron squash, warm spices, and creamy coconut milk come together in the ultimate cooling bowl.

We made this for a fashion shoot in Marrakech and it’s become a staple — light, vibrant, and packed with layered flavour.

Serve it in bowls or glasses, top with fresh chilli + coriander, and watch it disappear.

We spent an enjoyable day on Saturday cooking for a private dinner party for 10.

Our client, Marijke was clear that she didn’t want a Moroccan meal – she was after something more international, with fish as the main course. So we met up with her beforehand to suggest some menu ideas and make sure she felt confident that the evening was going to be a success.

On the night, we set up the food on our beautiful serving plates and laid everything out by the pool for a relaxed, help-yourself meal in Marijke’s gorgeous garden.

The weather was perfect, the setting was lovely, and we’re happy to hear it went down well – we were told it was “a great success – fresh, delicious, and full of flavour. And the tiramisu was the best they’d ever tasted!”

So thank you, Marijke, for your faith in us - catering for birthdays is a big responsibility.

And thank you BBAM, for putting us together.
